Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya

Not HGVC (nor even booked with HH points), but...

Has any Tugger been to this Hilton property in Moscow? I'll be there in early May, booked into an Executive King.

I've been warned about the high cost of food in Moscow and was wondering if I can successfully mooch/munch off the Executive Club offerings... I'm thinking that breakfast should be substantial enough and that the evening nibbles might be enough for a light supper. Any thoughts on that?

Any other suggestions or tips for 4 days of exploring Moscow would be great!!

My Question:
If you are going to the expense of a trip to Moscow and staying in an executive-level room, IOW, spending a butt-load of dough for travel and accomodations... Why would you want to scrimp on meals to save a few rubles?

Are you not there to enjoy yourself, or at least experience the culture?

I say, if you're going to splurge on travel and accomodations, extend that to your dining experience.
Its all a part of "being there."

Good question Talent312, but wrong assumptions...

This is as good a deal for a trip to Russia as one can get: :whoopie:

1. The airfare to St Petersburg and Moscow came as a bonus extension to flights to France for my brother's wedding (stop-over in Paris on the way back). The $700 ticket to Russia was $300 cheaper when I bought it than the ticket to France alone... go figure! I consider this better than a freebie.

2. Accommodation costs in a nice B&B in St Petersburg for 9 days, for less than $100 a night, gave me leeway (cost-wise) to include the 4 nights in Moscow at the Hilton. With the EBB, the Executive room at this Hilton property was an outstanding value for Moscow.

3. An average lunch in Moscow costs approx. $50 per person - I am not planning on skimping, but I am planning on saving money where I can. The more careful I am on spending unnecessarily, the better I can invest in day tours, tickets to "Swan Lake" and "Firebird" at the Mariinsky, a multi-day pass to the Ermitage, etc... Besides which, I'll be dining alone in Russia (hubby is only joining me for the France portion -- where we'll be dining very well in the Bordeaux and Dordogne regions for a couple of weeks), so there's less incentive to splurge on dining in the first portion of my trip and more reason for planning for a safe & social way to eat in the evening instead.

As most Tuggers, I prefer spending wisely, in order to really get the most out of all my trips.

Russian breakfast buffets are enormous and quite excellent. I believe there is a McDonald's within walking distance to your hotel in Moscow, though if I were you I would eat Russian food when in Russia (I hate Russian food (with the exception of the breakfast buffets) over all but when in Rome..............).

I like Marinksy ballet better, but since you are going to Moscow do compare with the Bolshoi if possible. Schleimann's gold at the Pushkin museum is phenomenal.

I stayed at the Marriott when in Moscow on one trip and it was super. Hilton was close by if I remember correctly. Russia is a great place to visit, especially in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Havea good time.

This is one place I would love to visit, it is a must on my bucket list. Now if I could get DH to go farther away than North America.
