I want to stay in Manhattan, New York for a few days this fall, using HH points. Would like to be fairly centrally located. Any opinions on best Hilton properties to consider? (I've only stayed at the Manhattan Club).

I've stayed at Times Square Doubletree Suites and Hilton Garden Inn on points. Like them both, although I prefer the Doubletree location. It's right in Times Square but is more points. Both have free Internet. As an Honors gold, I got free breakfast at both.

Totally agree with both recommendations. Aside from my timeshare (Hilton Club) these are my two go-to choices in NY.

I've stayed at the Hilton New York on Avenue of the Americas (some building as one of the HGVCs) a few times because I was attending a convention there. As a HHonors Diamond, I get lounge access (breakfast in the mornings, appetizers at night). I had issues with each of the three stays. I wouldn't recommend this Hilton.

I stayed at the Hilton Times Square (42nd Street) in 2009. Good location, nice staff, and since there are no rooms below then tenth floor (or something like that) street noise is minimized.

FYI: "Our 41st St. exterior and lower lobby are currently being redesigned until April 6, 2012; please pardon our appearance during this time. The 41st St. entrance will continue to be accessible for automobile valet service."

How about the Waldorf Astoria? :D We stayed there a few years back (not using Hilton points) and thought it was wonderful.

I did see the Waldorf, and am considering. Is it near enough to Times Square etc? Any breakfast etc for diamond level?

Close is somewhat relative in NYC. It's easy to get almost anywhere walking, taking a taxi or taking the subway (depending on your preferences).

The Waldorf is less than a mile and should be about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride.

There are other Hilton properties that are closer. The Hilton Garden Inn is about a block away, less than a 5 minute walk.
