Hello,

I am a Hilton Honors member. HGVC called me last night and offered me 6 days and 5 nights at Waikaloa and a car rental included for $798. I would need to attend a presentation and would get a hotel stay worth $200.

How much is it to stay at Waikaloa to just rent a unit?

That is hard to say exactly without knowing which resort, Kings Land, Kohala Suites or Ocean Tower, and the size of the unit.

In general I think that is good value, assuming you enjoy the big island, and don't mind sitting through a presentation.

I did read someone on FB mention doing a promo package at the Ocean Tower, but only getting a standard hotel room. You should be sure you understand which resort you will be staying at, and what kind of room.

Also the "Be our Guest" certificate for $200 is usually brand specific, that is the certificate on works at the exact brand listed on the cert. So if the certificate if for Hilton, it will not work at an Embassy Suites, etc.

Also, if they called you, I'd be sure that this was really HGVC/Hilton that called. I'm always wary of calls.

Cheers.

I wonder if it is the hotel...which is nice and overlook's the ocean. When we sat thru a presentation I think we got a 200 gift card which we used at the resort at restaurants.

Like others have stated, I would check first where you will be staying. It may not be in the normal TS but a regular hotel room.

If you actually want to go there and there is availability, it's probably a pretty good deal. We did something similar at the Hilton Hawaiian Village last year. We did have a little trouble booking the dates we wanted despite the first rep saying that they were available. I spoke to a manager and they were able to confirm it a few days later though.

My sister was just offered the same deal and her offer was at the Hilton Waikoloa hotel.

The offer said that it would be at a Hilton hotel or resort.

As I mentioned before, it's likely is a good deal but it may not be exactly what you want. I found a presentation itself to be relatively painless in the grand scheme of things.

Even the hotel plus a car is a good deal at that rate. Especially with the $200 kicker. But, as others have said, the hotel is not the timeshares. Still a very nice location, but a different beast.

Cheers.

As I told my sister, be careful with that $200 certificate. It's brand specific. If you request "Hilton", it can only be used at "Hilton" hotels and you can't use it a Hampton Inn, Doubletree, etc.

I received the same offer when I called Hilton to book a hotel. They also offered Hilton Hawaiian Village for $698 and either a sunset cruise or Luau (plus $200 hotel certificate). It was for a hotel room. There is an additional fee to upgrade a timeshare unit.

With that price including the lodging AND a car rental I think it's definitely a good deal. I doubt you could get a room at any of the Hilton properties in the Waikoloa resort area for $100/night and the car rental would be another couple hundred.

If they are putting you up at the hotel there is a fee for parking that would increase your out of pocket. So I would ask a lot of questions about where you'd be staying and what other fees there would be.
