Hi everybody,
Instead of Myrtle Beach this year I was entertaining Hilton Head but after reviewing things to do I've become extremely hesitant. Outside of some miniature golf courses there really doesn't seem like a lot to do for families with young kids. Doesn't seem to have any sort of amusement parks, etc. Can I hear some opinions and experiences. Thanks everybody!

I have never been there, but in doing a quick Google look it sounds like there are lots of things to do with kids.

HHI is very different than MB IMHO. The best part of HHI for us is the excellent biking, beaches, pools, hiking, shopping and eating opportunities. The biking throughout the island but especially the Sea Pines area is our most favorite activity and our kids have enjoyed biking on HHI since they were old enough to ride a bike.

The best part of MB is still the beaches for us. It doesn't have the biking that HHI has but they do have the boardwalks that are nice. For us HHI has much better food choices.

We go to HH every year, 6-8 weeks.
We did have a family with older teenagers come down last winter, they stayed 1 week in Myrtle Beach and 2 weeks in HH. They really liked HH
They are coming back this year, they are skipping MB.
The Biking is nice, can get to many places by bike.
Sea Pines has some nice hiking.
There is Pirates Island Mini Golf, never been there tho
Some resorts do have some '"Activities"

We have been to Myrtle Beach once. Definitely more entertainment here to keep the kids busy especially in the evening. We have been to HH twice and absolutely love it (we actually fell in love with it the second time around). We did not travel with young kids so we really did not look for those type of activities (they do offer some at Disney's resort). Definitely choose an area/resort where there are more activities offered. There are a ton of families, many yearly repeat visitors. I doubt they will get bored but who knows. It is definitely a whole different feel/vacation. Much more relaxed. More water activities, golfing, biking - google things to do at Hilton Head. Good luck! Definitely come back and let us know if you went and what you thought of.

We always travel with young children (we're foster parents so we just keep getting more young children). We live in South Carolina and vacation on the coast a couple times a year. We prefer HHI to Myrtle Beach. When we go to the beach we prefer to spend time at the beach, biking, hiking, etc. For some of us, having a bunch of young kids in toe means NOT always spending a ton of money at our vacation destination. We travel to homes or condo's where we always eat in. Spending less on fast food, mini-golf, arcade type activities means we're able to vacation more often and spend more quality time together building sand castles, swimming in the pool and the ocean, searching for star fish, fishing, or biking. It really matters what you consider a quality vacation.
