We arrive at Barony tomorrow with 5 kids, 7 to 17. The weather report I looked at said rain all week. I packed lots of games, but does anyone have any more rainy day suggestions? Does Barony have any scheduled activities? I believe it has an indoor pool and spa? Thanks!

Go to the Movies. The nature center is free and has talks on gators and turtles, we did that one rainy day. Day trip to Savannah. Dolphin cruise in Shelter Cove if there is no lightning.

The passed 2 summers when we've gone to HHI the weather report showed rain every day. The report ranged between 10% to 60% chance of showers and thunder showers every day.

The first year we went it rained for about an hour the first night. After that no rain for the rest of the week.

This year we had thunder showers at around 4:00-4:30 (the rest of the day was sunny and hot) for the first 4 days and then no rain after that.

The people who work there told me that summer rain in HHI consists of brief thunder showers and that they rarely get all day rain.

Having said that, it still might rain for you....but don't panic yet.

Hope you have a wonderfully sun-filled vacation!

Great place to stop for brochures. It is on the right headed toward HHI. Pick up the dining guide there. Staff is very helpful.

There is a Blockbuster video rental on the island. http://national.citysearch.com/profile/9239296/hilton_head_isle_sc/blockbuster.html

They just built a covered pavilion for the Kid Zone activities. There is an indoor pool and spa but they may make you get out of the pool if there is lightenng.

It is not raining now ... the weather report says isolated t-storms all day but the sun is shining and the weather is warm ... pool is open :) ... We are here this week as well and looked at the weather report and were a little  but there will always be those moments in between and rain that might show up.

Last week had a report of T Storms ... It thundered, rained, and lightning for 45 minutes from 5:15pm to 6:00pm ... unfortunately we were on kayaks at that time and opted to cut the trip short and come in :D the sun came out at 6:04 and one would never have known there was a storm. Go figure.

The Barony has many activities.

Have fun!

We'll try to arrange rain only while you are sleeping. We do need the rain. After visiting Fla during the fires a couple of years ago, we didn't complain at all about the rain we had in July while there. We were in Maine last week with some rain, but we had the grandkids to keep our spirits high. Have a great time in the low country.

We are here now too...we just got here today...we are hearing the same thing about the weather, it is from the tropical storm that will be coming north from Florida, so I think this one is not one of the "typical" Hilton Head chance of thunderstorm days, it looks like it may be here to stay. Pray the weather forecasters have it wrong!

Can't do much about tropical storms. If there's no thunder, you can still go horseback riding, do a dolphin watch on the Commander Zodiak out of South Beach, take a fishing trip, kayak....

The one year we had a tropical storm move in, we ended up packing up and going to Gatlinburg for a few days.

Good luck to you.
