I just saw an announcement of HGV acquiring a new property in Kyoto, Japan. Does anyone know any details such as will it be HGVC or bHC or HVC?

Interesting. Planning on a Japan trip in 2026, but wasn’t really considering any of the HGVC available properties, as most are kind of out of the way, but Kyoto could be a possibility.

LOL. My son stayed in Citadines Kyoto Karasuma Gojo all summer 2022. We stayed in Kyoto for a month, catalyzed by him interning at Univ of Kyoto for the summer.
I gave him privacy, never saw his room. I saw the lobby & elevators. He saw many rooms and said they were all small, which in Japan means REALLY small. So, HGV must be planning to blow out walls, etc to turn 120++ studios into the 63x 1 bdrms.
I guess they don't count Okinawa: "This will be the third property in Japan."
He liked the location for his purposes, access to U Kyoto campuses and going out at night. I liked our location better for getting around more broadly. That location is more "fashionable".

Many Okinawans do not consider themselves Japanese. Okinawa was an independent nation until they were annexed by Japan. Many Okinawans resent the annexation.

I only see two HGV resorts in Japan, Bay Forest Odawara, and The Beach Resort Sesoko Island, which is in Okinawa. Is there another one? Personally I usually focus on hotels not timeshares when traveling internationally.

Me also. I never stayed in those. I thought I remembered 1 on Honshu, 1 on Hokkaido & 1 on Okinawa. Guess I did imagine the third.
Wait. Odawara is on Honshu. I swear there is one south of Sapporo, but maybe it is just a Hilton Resort not a TS.

Yeah, looking at the point cost of the current properties, I’ll probably be better off using HH points for hotels.
