I am going to a wedding in the Bahamas in Nov.
There is not a HGVC and there aren't many choices for RCI resorts there.

I am looking to book a room at the Hilton in Nassau which is going to be at least $250/night.

I know I can't convert HGVC points to HHonors points at this time of year.

Are there any other ways that HGVC owners can save when booking a Hilton reservation?

Or any suggestions on how to use HHonors to save a little bit on this stay?

Thanks!

You actually have the option to book the hotel using your HGVC points. The conversion ratio is worse than normal. It's only 20:1 normally we get 25:1.

I think you need to call in to do the booking.

If you do this and need to cancel I don't think you can get your HGVC points back.

Regards.

Sign up for the HHonors Citi Visa Card and the Hhonors Amex card. I used to travel more for work so my Hhonors account was healthy based on stay activity. Now I rely on these two cards to build Hhonors points. Amex has better point values, but there are places that Amex is not accepted (higher credit card fees), so then I use the Visa Card. As long as you pay off your balance every month, it is worth it. They may also offer bonus points for new card holders.

I think a hotel there costs ~40,000 HH points per night.

I don't know if converting HGVC points to HH points would be the most cost effective way of paying for the hotel (and there is a fee for the conversion on top of it all).

I would look on a site like Flyertalk for Hilton hotel booking advise to get the best discounts. I would also contact the couple and ask them if they blocked off rooms at a hotel (and if so, what rate).

You can also look to see if there are any discount codes out there (like the MVP rates ) that you might be eligible for.

Do not forget the best place to stay in that area is Harborside Resort at Atlantis. What are you dates?

if it is not thanksgiving, than you may be able to get an owner to book you partial stay at Harborside using their expiring staroptions for this year and you may get a 1 bedroom deluxe for around $250 per night.
