We received an important notice from AMEX that effective August 1, 2024, only direct charge to certain resort hotels plus HGVC resorts will be qualified for the $400 resort credit. It will seriously impact the attractiveness of the Aspire card if we could not pay annual Maintenace fees for the resort credit.

But, it has already been reported here in TUG that the list isn't 100% accurate. For example, Bay Club isn't on the list but worked

I didn't get that email. Did AMEX actually give a list of qualifying resorts (which is different than Hilton's resort list) or is everyone still guessing?

I have also not received the email, but the concern it raises is not about the resort list, but the wording about "direct charge." One possible interpretation is that MFs, even to previously eligible resorts, will be coded differently and not code as "direct charges" any longer.

It will be interesting to see posting reports post August 1.

Cheers.

The notice was sent via letter from American Express Aspire card. Please check your monthly statement. "Direct Charge at the eligible resorts" is the word used.

It might simply be clarifying that prepaid rates do not count. Something that has been in effect for some time.

We will see. They are definitely trying for breakage similar to the stupid monthly spending coupons we see on the CSR and Amex Plat.

At some point none of these make sense. Unlike a timeshare you can dump the card when too many hoops to rebate the high annual fee..

I just paid for the SA for the Bay Club last week, and got my resort credit. Bay Club is NOT on the list, but it was previously. In previous years I always got the resort credit and I did again this year. I have 2 contracts at the BC, and even year 2 BR A and an odd year 2 BR B. So I paid two separate fees that were 50% of the SA per unit type and I definitely got my credit back from Aspire Card.
