Hi,

Have been reading HICV info the past month or so. As the resorts seem to all offer traditional daily hotel rates, trying to determine what the benefits are to owning.

My interest is due to having 2 resorts in comfortable driving distance (lake geneva and fox river) as well as several in areas served by our small regional airport (orlando, myrtle beach)

However, when I price a week at each, the cost isn't much more than the annual maintenance fees. This is however taking into account ihg rewards points etc I typically accumulate yearly.

Also, not clear on how many HICV points equal a week. My experience is with rewards points which are redeemed at appx. 35k per night.

Any info greatly appreciated.

The price of a week in IHG points varies from resort to resort and varies according to the actual week rented. The rate for spring break is not the rate charged for January. Of course, you have to own a week first and the cost and benefits there depend upon how it is acquired.

We have a week at Orange Lake and we use IHG points. We have been able to stay in London, Paris and Rome, and also resorts in the USA. We usually combine IHG rewards with our other timeshare vacations.
You should check Marketplace for resale weeks at the HIVC near you.
Good luck!

At Fox River, a week in a standard 2 Bedroom runs from 45,000 HICV points (winter) to 145,000 HICV points (Summer), with a couple seasons in between. A Lake Geneva 2 Bedroom runs from 97,000 HICV points to 244,000 HICV points. A night Sunday - Thursday cost 10% of the weekly points, while a night Fri-Sat cost 25% of the weekly points. Hope that info helps you evaluate your options better.
