I've been reading this thread and i do have a question. I've been offered to take over a timeshare for 5,000 USD including transfer and lawyer fees with HIVC. It's a week 34 on orange lake east village 2 bedroom and it is equal to 133,000 points if you are not going to go for the deeded week. I've read before that during transfers, the point system does not transfer over. Is it still the same policy happening right now. Really new to this timeshare and want my purchase to be good over the years. Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Points do not transfer over. If you just want a deeded week, you might be able to get for $500 or less at http://sumdayvacations.com/timeshare-transfer/search.php?pg=1&stext=holiday+inn&sprice=&stype=&scat=

HI Myrtle Beach (south beach), Smokey Mountains (Gatlinburg TN), and Lake Geneva are the only HI resale resorts transferring into points.

Thanks for the heads up. Just to clarify, So what the previous owner is enjoying right now on the terms of his timeshare, i would not be able to enjoy if it was transferred to me? (for example, use the 133,000 to book another resort within the holiday inn club vacations instead i will be stuck on the week 34 of the timeshare).

Yes, this is correct. You will not get a HICV membership and you will not get access to the points via resale.

Thank you for the responses. As per the owner, he said that he called the HIVC deeded department and says that the membership is transferable. He said that i will be able to enjoy the same thing as what he is enjoying. How do i confirm this. I trust everyone here but i just need to understand if this is written somewhere on a policy so that i have a proof to the owner. Maybe he is misleading me to something or just telling the truth as to the people from holiday inn says. Thanks...

No chance it will transfer as points. OP said 2 bedroom East Village. When the sale goes thru all you will have is the use of week 34. This is probably worth $1 since its the 2nd lowest season. Hes scamming you.

Will the customer service at holiday inn deny this fact or will answer me and give me the right information? I know these people are just going to sell me....

Have him ask for an estoppel that will show the points, along with the deeded week and the fact that they will transfer as points. He will not be able to produce such a document but if he does at that point call the transfer department to verify.

There is a section on the OL estoppel that indicates whether the HICV membership transfers. Mine was pre-printed with non transferable.

This is really helpful. Sorry for being newbie on the acronyms. what does "OL Estoppel" means?

Why are you even remotely concerned with this purchase?
Points for real or not it still is not a $5000 deal

If you really want points. Go grab some from a legit points only resort and you won’t have this issue

If you really want to take a $5000 risk PM me and I will give you some investment info that might be a better gamble

Thanks to everyone on all the information. i decided not to pursue on this and instead rent some timeshares from owners. I would juts like to ask if there are any legit websites or marketplace for this one which has reviews as well?

I maintain a list of people who rent HICV points - message me if you'd like the link.

I think this might be a misunderstanding of points
You will get to use the same amount of point value in other resorts but unable to split up the points
If the week has a 133,000 point value then you can book a full week that has the same value elsewhere but you cannot book a partial week for lesser points

Hopefully I have that correct??
We are all points so don’t ever book like that

That is not correct. As soon as an Orange Lake deed is sold it reverts back to just a week, no longer points.

Don’t do it! You will be up the creek if you can’t use it the same way. Just rent other locations or buy into another system.

Redweek, the marketplace here on tug, eBay, Facebook groups. There are plenty and are becoming more popular and free

True
But don’t they still give you what ever you own worth of points for trading?
So if your week is worth 120,000 then you’d get the same trade power for another week worth 120k ?

no, its just a fixed week. What you're saying is their point system. HICV doesnt have internal trading. If they want another week they need to use rci.
