I had posted this under an old "Ron Jons" thread, but decided to start a new thread with the current resort name, so we can share updated info on the resort:

We went to an owner update at HICV Cape Canaveral Beach Resort recently and were told that two signature resort buildings will soon be built in-between the pool and the beach buildings. Signature members staying in those rooms will have their own pool. Additionally, I was told that HICV was considering converting the 4th and 5th oceanfront units into Signature resort rooms. We asked what would happen to existing oceanfront owners and were told that we would be somehow compensated if they decided to do that (perhaps by being given Signature status?). I wish I had asked what would happen to 3rd floor oceanfront owners.

Did you have to pay to become members of HIVC or did you buy after the conversion? Also is there a fee to become a signature member there?

I was an owner at Ron Jon's prior to the conversion and I took up HICV's offer last year to convert my two weeks to HICV points (for free). There aren't any Signature rooms at the resort yet, but I'm sure you'll have to purchase Signature points from HVIC in order to have access to one of the two Signature buildings after they are completed at the resort. Otherwise, if you are already a Signature level HICV member (or have a high HICV status level) you could use your points for one of the Signature rooms. Existing Oceanfront owners might possibly luck into Signature status if HICV decides to move forward with converting the 4th and 5th floor oceanfront rooms into Signature rooms.

The resale value on any timeshare tends to be disappointingly low to the owner, but HICV Cape Canaveral Beach Resort does as well as any of the other HICV resorts from what I see. Las Vegas and Orlando HICV owners are often hard pressed to give away their non-red season weeks. Weeks owners at the former Ron Jons resort have the same booking rights as the Points owners at the resort from a timing perspective, so there is no disadvantage there.
