Guys, I am planning a Sister/Friends vacation to HI for 2013, and need your help. We are flexible with dates and location. However, I was thinking of Maui. There will be 8-10 ladies between the age of 45-63.

I was hoping to get an exchange through RCI or II for one 2BR, and possible rent another 2BR at the same resort.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Maui is the most difficult trade in Hawaii - do you have a strong trader?

Your best bet is to go in the fall - which has summer weather, but is off-season. If I were you, I'd put in a request for all of Maui with both II and RCI NOW for all of Sept. and Oct.

Here are the TUG ratings and reviews for Maui - http://tug2.com/RnR/ResortsGrid.aspx?ResortArea=3&ResortGroup=19

*After thinking about it, I think you might do better renting one large house or condo - try www.vrbo.com

I don't know of too many resorts that would allow 4-5 people in a 'room' and none in Hawaii. Most resorts usually have a studio sleeps 2 and a 1 bedroom sleeps 4 (in some of the ski areas you may get a 1 bedroom sleeps 6 but not in Hawaii).

Sometimes we used to put a request in and let the computer decide which island...

I think that nearly all resorts with a 2BR allow 6 persons in a room:confused:

We had a "girls' retreat" last fall at WKORVN and had a GREAT time - I highly recommend it! Fall is a good time to go, as the kids are back in school, the resorts/beaches/restaurants aren't as crowded, and the weather is perfect. II/RCI resort availability in Hawaii is usually better in the fall, too. I'm already booked at the Hilton resorts in Waikoloa for Nov 2013 - so you're not too early to start looking/planning/reserving now!

I like daventrina's idea to get your requests in early, and see what comes up. I wouldn't limit my search to just Maui. A sister/friends vacation in Kauai, the Big Island, or Oahu would be wonderful, too. When we "girls" get together, we like to go to the bigger, full-service, resorts (Westin, Marriott, Hilton, etc) for the spas, workout facilities, restaurants, pool service, etc. At the bigger resorts, it's fairly easy to find an owner who is willing to rent their week if you need the extra room - if you can't get it through a trade.

Have fun planning, and have a wonderful vacation!

Kauai and the Big Island are MUCH easier to get into through RCI. If you really want Maui (or Oahu), it's best to set up an ongoing search well in advance and/or watch the Sightings forum regularly and/or monitor RCI regularly.
