According to the HHV web site, the Kalia pool and whirlpool are exclusively for people staying in Kalia Tower or using Mandara Spa. But what about Lagoon Tower guests? Has anyone stayed in Lagoon and used the Kalia whirlpool?

While the Waikikian was being built it was definetly open to all guests because the Lagoon pool was closed. However, I think it's an HHV pool, so it should be available anyhow. It also has the only whirlpool in the whole complex so far.

I used it in October when staying in the Lagoon tower.

Likewise when we were in Lagoon Tower in July. In fact, I think it was open to anyone at HHV (or off the street I suppose, for that matter), as I don't recall anyone was checking room cards to see which tower we were staying in.

I might just have a case of post-vacation amnesia, but I think you'll be fine.

linsj could be right about not checking. All the times I stayed in HHV I never have been asked except when getting a towel. Then you can just blurt out a room number and all is good.

Except for getting towels, I don't think that Hilton checks anyone at any of the pools. I've talked to people from the next door hotel, Hale Koa, many times at the super pool. Last time we were there, we talked to a family staying at a hotel about a mile away. They had been told that HHV had the best pool in Waikiki, so they walked there everyday!! I'm sure that the new pool will be the same...I asked several HHV employees if there were any plans to police use, and all I got were blank stares.

Just from what I saw, HGVC can easily monitor who enters the new pool area. It looks like the only way in and out is through the lobby.

On a pessimistic note: if HGVC doesn't police who goes in and out of the new pool, it will get crowed very quickly. Especially with kids wanting to use the slides.

Grand Waikikian Pool

From the latest issue of Grand Times:

"All Hilton Hawaiian Village guests will be able to enjoy the new resort's super pool with waterfalls, a slide and a swim-through grotto that slopes down from the second-floor lobby to the edge of the recently rejuvenated Hilton lagoon."

At the Hilton Waikoloa hotel you have to get a wrist band to use the slide
