We usually avoid 'owners updates' but since it was conceivable that I might buy under the right circumstances we said yes this time. Basically, this year I purchased a week at KBC and two Vistana WSJ weeks and would consider directly buying an enrolled week at one of the beachside HHI resorts if it enrolled/retro'd my resale weeks.

At Surfwatch we were presented with a 'preferred check-in' pass at the gate (and I knew what that meant). We were ushered in to see a scout and our offer was 45K Bonvoy points, a $300 resort credit, or a $50 resort credit and $250 off our MFs. Plus access to the 'preferred lounge' for our stay (which had snacks and beverages) and a "beach buggy" (aka beach cart). The scout knew that I had done a Vistana presentation at WSJ earlier that year.

I'm sure many of you already knew this, but on HHI the 'updates' are given over at a sales gallery across from MGO. We spend a pleasant 30 or so minutes with the sales guy discussing MVC and Marriott hotels and then when the discussion turned to the business end of things I mentioned that I owned a pair of resale Vistana weeks that I was interested in retro'ing and that my previous direct MVC purchases had been done in order to enroll resale weeks. Interestingly enough, though the scout knew I did the Vistana presentation the salesguy didn't know I owned Vistana weeks. He disappeared for a while and then walked in with the closer.

The closer said that they couldn't requalify Vistana weeks (no mention was made of the KBC week) and asked if I had heard about their 'new' program where they would offer full current election point cash value of a resale week as a discount off a points purchase. I said I had...and he blithely continued on to show the numbers for giving back my Grande Vista week and getting a discount off a points purchase. When I pointed out that my GV week was actually the one week I had purchased directly from MVC, he replied that we consider it resale (?).

He asked if I would be interested and I said no...I consider enrolled weeks to be the most useful thing to own in MVC since they could be used as weeks or points and had no interest in buying points. We then exchanged a few pleasantries and left. Which kind of surprised me because at the last onsite MVC presentation I attended the closer then shifted to trying to sell me an enrolled Maui week. Evidently MVC doesn't do that on HHI.

Lastly, the 'Encore' woman came in, asked me to review the salesrep, and make the Encore offer. $2099 for 200,000 Bonvoy Points and a 3 night stay in a 2BR a beachfront HHI MVC resort (4 nights if the stay started on Sunday or Monday) in exchange for attending another presentation.

All in all a very pleasant experience compared to some of the horror stories I've recently read about.

And my question is that I'm wondering if any of you had been able (or at least offered) to retro Vistana weeks at a MVC sales presentation. Or conversely, been able (or offered) to enroll a MVC week at a Vistana presentation. TIA.

I was offered a Sheraton flex package in order to enroll my MVC and Vistana weeks at SVV last year which I turned down. Same at Sheraton Broadway resort but not at HHI.
