The concierge offered $100gc and 10k HH points for a 1 hour update. I received a call a couple days later to cancel my timeshare update. He said records show I bought resale and I have other avenues to buy the timeshares. I'm staying at the grand islander and the update was going to be in Lagoon Tower.

Looks like they have finally figured out you are a smart cookie and can't be duped by the sales team.

Interesting because this has not normally stopped them in the past. I think that the problem is the concierge job is to get people into these “owner’s updates” but then you are meeting with the sales team. These aren’t updates just a sales presentation.

Too bad, so sad.
They saved you from having your ears boxed for 1-2 hours.

Unfortunate. I'd rather make my own choice and not have them make it for me. The offers in NYC have been great, and glad we haven't been auto-excluded for being resale purchasers.

Cheers.

if they would only stop calling me everyday while I am on vaction, that would be nice
Or when they start calling you the week before your reservation and their message implores you to call back so they ‘can go over all the details of your upcoming trip.’ Multiple calls and emails. I was in Vail skiing last month several days before I was scheduled to go and stay at Elara. They called me no less than 4 times along with emails. I broke my clavicle and had surgery during that trip so I ended up responding to their last call and I told them my situation. They were like, “oh, so your not coming? Okay, bye”.

I’m done with “updates”. Don’t care how much they give me

Definitely a reasonable approach. When I can get stays at W. 57th for $149/night plus $200 in easy-to-spend certificates for 15 minutes of my time, I'm good with it. But doesn't work for everyone.

Cheers.

I‘d stop by and ask for the gift card. Just explain their promise is not negated by the salespersons inability to do their job.
