Not that I at all want to deal with a sales pitch, but they never have a good time for me - it's allways during the workday when I'm busy.

I'm an HGVC owner at a different location. We paid $111 ($99 + tax) for a package deal a few months ago, and the trip is two weeks away. We will be in a one bedroom unit at the Elara in Las Vegas for three nights, and will be gifted 60,000 Hilton Honor points. One good thing is that the presentation is in the same building. We've done this package deal many times, but the HH points might have gone down a little.

I'm done rubbing elbows with these weasels.
My time is more valuable than anything they put on the bedside table.

Do they reimburse you for your flights too?

$200 Visa card or 75,000 HH points was recently offered and was raised to $250 or 100,000 HH points if we did an afternoon update. Took the 100,000 HH points and used that for a Hilton reservation for next year (points were in my HH account about an hour after the presentation). I saved over $700 using the 100,000 HH points so I consider that a big win.

120,000 HH points earlier this week at the Elara.
We got 100k HH in July for our update at Elara. I was trying to hold out for more, but my wife had already told them we’d take 100k instead of their offered 60k points.

Nice job on the 120k!

We just stayed at Ocean Tower Waikoloa on a marketing package for 3 nights/4 days for $249 + 15,000 Hawaiian Airlines miles. The marketing package was sold to us as staying in a 1 bedroom HGVC unit. That didn't happen. They put us in an old hotel room with no kitchenette or microwave instead of the 1 bedroom we were promised. The Ocean Tower is currently being remodeled from 600 hotel rooms to HGVC units.

This was our first HGVC presentation. The agent was very nice and kind and the manager was great. But we felt let down by the accommodations given.

The "concierge" at Liberty Place tried to get us to do the "one-hour session about the new search feature" (she was being cryptic but I'm guessing it was the AI searches, since I'm too stupid to know where I want to go and all).

We weren't interested in an update. She offered 60,000 HHonors points, never sweetened it afterwards. In her defense we didn't give her the opportunity. We are done with the sales pitches.

Out of desperation she said, "oh, we're super low pressure here."

I sincerely doubt that!

We like Liberty Place and stay there at least a couple of times per year, but would never own a deed there; MFs way too steep.

We haven’t done an “update” with Hilton in perhaps 10 years. At that time the average offer was around $150 in estimated value or vouchers good at a limited number of restaurant. I forget if it was 60 or 90 minutes of my time.

My rule of thumb is, I need at least $300 in value, I know the salesman and it’s going to be more of a conversation with the latest prices or deals rolled into to conversation or, there is really something I’m interested in hearing or seeing, like a particular style unit, the latest gossip about when something will begin or new resort development et…..

We will do maybe 1 or 2 updates per year out of 6 or 7nstays per year. So far we’ve done ZERO updates this year with two -panned vacations remaining. It’s safe to say that number will remain at zero for the year. We use to go to the Breckenridge Grand Vacations update every year for the $150 off our MF. It was always the same salesman and it was always just a conversation with the latest in pricing and/or new developments. He retired a couple of years ago and the salesman who replaced him has been a little more aggressive and a little less conversationalist. It’s not really worth the t-shirt, the $150 or wasting his time when we’re not going to expand our ownership in Breckenridge or any other Colorado town.

I thought it might be helpful to mention this in case others are traveling from the continental US with the same expectation. We live in Hawaii so it was an inconvenience but not earth shattering. Is this normal for HGVC marketing?

No, it's not normal. But in this case, a one bed upgrade could only be used at the resorts. If they are fully booked for the time you choose, then it goes without saving you lose that benefit.
