Sat through a sales presentation primarily to get some information on the DRI acquisition and how it may impact HGVC owners.
  • The rep said that they have no information at this time on how it will impact HGVC. The rep did say that sales got a memo that morning that said that the number of resorts would be going from 84 to 150 (can’t remember the exact numbers but this is close). It wasn’t just something the rep made up as I was showed the memo. The memo looked like a sales game plan as there were many bullet points of factoids on it. Unfortunately I didn’t get a long enough look to obtain more of them.
  • Pretty standard presentation from there. Pushed strongly the ability to convert to HH points and Elite.
  • Compared 2009 retail prices to today to show how much prices have gone up. Although the word investment was never said I think the purpose was to show me that I would be making a good investment as in 10 years they could be selling the same thing for double what I would pay today.
  • Offered 5,800 points (two bedroom Gold) for $35,000.
  • I received 100,000 HH points for attending. Initially I was offered 60,000 HH points.

What location was this?

Sounds honest, not knowing much about DRI merger.

Just curious, did you acquire your ownership from the developer or resale? We are staying at MarBrisa later this month and I was told that we aren’t eligible for an owner’s update because we bought resale.

Best regards.

I purchased resale but through Grand Pacific. My resale counts (and looks to sales) as a direct purchase. They are always confused as to how the “direct” purchase price that I paid is so low.

how would I know if my resale was through GP or not? I pay my MF to GP, if that helps.

I would love to know that I am still eligible for an owner’s update ;) I paid $1400 including transfer and other fees for my Marbrisa resale.

That was a very generous gift for attending the presentation. I love the argument they make: buy now because in 10 years HGVC will be charging double what they are charging now for a timeshare! They give no regard to the actual secondary market which is what the week is really worth just what they say they want for the week from the developer.

It all depends on who you bought it from. I had purchased the week from Grand Pacific Palisades resale department. At that time, they could add HGVC to the week for no additional charge. Since then, HGVC has taken over all resale activity for Palisades and Seapointe. Now, HGVC jacks the cost up to regular developer prices.

I also pay my MF to GP, including the HGVC club fee.

I booked a stay at Marbrisa and they were persistent in getting me to attend a presentation. I would assume it would be the same for you as well.
