Does anyone know if there is a additional cost by calling HGVC and making a reservation over the phone (as opposed to on-line)? Also, is it possible to make a "changeable" reservation on-line? If so, how?

Working from memory, I believe call center reservations run $69 vs $49 on-line, and all on-line reservations are changeable through the same reservation portal. (There's a link).

Surfer is correct. HGVC reservations made thru the website are always changeable online.
Call-center reservations require an extra fee (above the $69) to make them changeable.

Note: A penalty applies for changes made w-in 30 days of check-in if points-used decreases.

Telephone vs. Online

A more important issue for me is whether more inventory is available by telephone than online. I was told by the operator that both methods utilize exactly the same inventory. BUT I make it a practice to first go online, and in more than two instances no availability online, and yet when I follow up with a phone call within a minute I managed to get the reservation.

As to changeability, as I recall HGVC offers at an extra charge the ability to
change your reservation without an additional penalty or surcharge beyond I think that $37 or $39 up charge.
