Can't be good...........

That was my first thought as well. New = More Restrictive.

But I'm going to be cautiously optimistic until proven wrong :)

Cheers.

It is good to be on the West Coast when walking a reservation.

Maybe they learned something from changing Classic to Revolution.
Namely, try it out in R/L with real peep, b4 springing it on everyone.

Strange. They just changed the entire reservation system from classic/revolution in the past 2 years. They want to change it again????

More flexibility and conveniences sound like more fees for new features.

Well yesterday I just booked the last night that I HAD to have to enable us to stay In Honolulu for many months in a row like we have been doing since 2009. Since we own a Condo in Honolulu the pressure to book night after night for months is no longer necessary. So HGVC bring on your new reservation system without testing it so it has all its bugs and faults that screw up long vacation reservation making in the HGVC system.

Now being less cynical about it; perhaps HGVC has learned to let members test the system with a few members first before they make it the system that all members must use. If that is the case then this is truly great.

I'm hopeful that they're at least "beta testing" with select members (if I read the email correctly). That at least, sounds like a change from previous instances? Now, whether they'll listen to any changes/feedback is a diff. story.

I wonder if everyone got the email? If so then they may just be using careful communication to make people think they are testing stuff before rolling it out... this would be a clever way to tell us changes are coming & make us think we were part of the process because we had an opportunity to test it... I dunno, maybe I'm being too skeptical?

I *love* how this announcement is automatically and universally met with skepticism and out-right dread from a base of basically-otherwise HGVC fans. I *hope* that someone from there is viewing this thread, because, really....that kind of response is a indicator of things. that. should. not. be. LOL!

"Oh great! I just got used to this new system and have figured out how to make it work for me and they're going o change it. Just what I was hoping for"

said no one, ever :)

The main reason I have skepticism is not for a bad rollout. The current system does everything I need it to do and works a very high percentage of the time (very occasional glitches for me). So, I personally don't see a need for change (others may feel differently). Thus, while it could get better in some way to I don't realize I might want, it can also get worse, even if works perfectly as intended.

Cheers.

Sadly they’ve asked for early feedback before (see below) and they still released the crap. I‘m assuming the feedback is used to create their backlog of subsequent fixes/enhancements. The changeable reservation process and ease of searching for availability has never been priority in their initial launches.

Here’s the email I received back in 2016 (see below). Here’s the 2016 impact - https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/new-website-discussion.241381/

Be Among the First to Experience the New Club Website
Our new website is launching soon, but there’s something we need from you first.
You’ve been randomly selected to be among the first to take the new Club website for a spin.
Before you take the leap to the new Club website, the first step you need to take is to create a new profile.
Creating a new profile allows you to access our brand new website along with a brand new vacation planning experience!
With your new profile, you’re just a few clicks away from a faster, smoother and easier way to plan your vacations and manage your Club membership through our new website, offering a more modern, responsive and mobile-friendly experience.
Plus you’ll enjoy a big-picture view of your vacation ownership portfolio with our Club Dashboard — the hub for all your points, reservations, and upcoming loan and maintenance fee payments — now all in one place.
Once you’ve had a chance to explore all our new user experience has to offer, let us know what more we can do to put our best digital foot forward.
If you spot an error, can’t find what you’re looking for, or if we’ve missed something along the way, we want to know. Send your feedback to input@hgvc.com.
So what are you waiting for? Your next great vacation starts here, but only if you create a new profile and start exploring the new website.

We are relatively new to HGVC and received the same email. I don’t know what they mean by “select”, as we are far from having (or wanting) any status with HGVC.

I’ve owned since 2001, no email for me. I’ve used all of the previous systems, never booked by phone.

Select = random selection.

Those of us that are SKEPTICAL most probably have been through the website changes from the original CLASSIC system that was out of date but worked to make, change and cancel reservations WITHOUT having to call the call center which you can't do on Sundays and Holidays! When they rolled out the REVOLUTION system they let members use either the CLASSIC OR REVOLUTION system temporarily and asked for comments. Since the REVOLUTION system had bugs that wouldn't let you change reservations all the time I stayed with the CLASSIC system and could do everything I needed to. I wrote to HGVC and told them of the problems but instead of them fixing it before they did away with the CLASSIC system they just went ahead and said you MUST use the REVOLUTION system. They eventually got the REVOLUTION system to do all the essential reservation functions.

So then they decided they needed to change the reservation system again. This time they didn't run both system simultaneously they just told you that you had a new system(which of course was untested) and had to use it !! Again with this new system all the essential reservation functions could not be performed. Eventually they got that system working after probably a year or more. Most recently they made UPGRADES to the current system and, of course, didn't test them yet so again you couldn't perform all the essential reservation functions.

So are we SKEPTICAL!! There is an expression fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Well HGVC reservation system changes have fooled us MORE THAN TWICE!!

It's pretty good now with some minor issues. Wonder why they are trying to change unless these are minor fixes.

Well the IT industry makes its money on ever-changing environment. It is a trip that you can never get off. I love much of the life changes that the IT industry gives us. However, I don't know a method of providing limits except to have those with the purse strings ask ahead of time what will this change let me do that I can't do now before giving the go ahead to the IT people to work on developing changes. It is almost like the IT people come up with something new that can be done, and then the create a need or desire for it so they can sell it.

It said “More flexibility and conveniences”. They just might be adding things not changing the whole site.

Yup. Does everything it needs to do...at least from the US. When I was in London the site would not let me log in due to a "hacking prevention" blocker. I'd not seen that before for HGVC. From here, I get that same thing for a UK-based account that I own, so I was familiar with it. I now have a plug-in where I can initiate a VPN based on any country, so I "become" UK when I need to access that account.

Interestingly, when I became UK here as a test., I got into HGVC no problem. Maybe just a momentary glitch?

But no problems from here for a fair while now.

Cheers.
