HGVC Hawaiian Village reservation - WWYD?

So LATE last night I was online trying to find a somewhat last minute vacation for what is the week of spring break in my neck of the woods (not because I have kids but I work with a bunch of them and I realized this would be a good week to take off work).

I'm online and find a great airfare and a date that there's a studio available at HGVC Hawaiian Village (I know it's not big but it uses the right number of points). I begin booking both - entering in my credit card info etc. I secure the flight and minutes later sit there looking at the HGVC website "processing" my payment for the reservation. Of course the site gets stuck. It neither processes nor rejects my reservation - just keeps spinning. After five or ten minutes I decide to try to push another button but the site is frozen. I go back in and the studio in the lagoon tower I was going to reserve for those five nights is gone. Now there is only a kalia tower studio for three of the nights we were going to be there. :wall: :wall: :wall:

So here's the situation as it stands- I have a great airfare that I have up until midnight tonight to cancel. I have a reservation for three nights smack dab in the middle of our time we are supposed to be there. There appears to be nothing else. I am frustrated.

What would you do? How likely is it that during the week of April 15th there will be something that opens up? I also KNOW that if I cancel this airfare i won't be able to book it at the same price in the future. GRRRRR...

Thanks for any thoughts!

What dates are you looking for?

I need 1 night at the end of my trip but can only book Open Season reservations for 2 nights minimum. I could book the 2 nights, you could then use the second. This would be HHV 1 Bedroom.

Me? I would definitely go to Oahu -- I never miss a chance to go to the Islands.

If you have good airfare, keep it -- and I've been very impressed with the availability in Open Season (but its spotty and you have to watch it like a hawk) and also there is still the possibility of cancelations at the 30 day mark.

Keep us apprised -- and what days specifically are you looking for?

Thx!

Well here's the tricky part. I have a flight booked which arrives on April 14th and departs on the 20th. I had planned on staying somewhere cheap on the night of the 14th and then needed the HGVC reservation on the 15th for 5 nights. All I have now is the 16th for 3.

I don't think it's open season yet for these dates.... is it anywhere close to when you were planning to travel?

I don't want to miss a chance to go either but using the HGVC points meant it was sort of a "free" (haha I know!) trip. I really didn't have it in my budget to have to pay for the additional nights when I have points I need to use anyway!

The Rainbow Tower next door has been through a refurb. Hotels aren't a bad backup and it's right next door. Use the MVP code to get a better rate and a cancelable reservation. Then, you're covered as you wait for last-minute options in HGVC.

You'll also find that the Revolution system often has availability showing in it for dates that have been taken, sometimes 15 to 20 minutes beforehand. I use the Classic system for this reason. Classic is as close to real time as it gets.

What's the MVP code? and do you mean to make the reservation directly with the rainbow tower?

I am really annoyed with the Revolution system... I've been getting LOTS of errors lately and then this happened. Back to Classic for me!

I'd keep the airfare, and watch Open Season when it is time. HHV has had a lot of it this year. From what I see, you need something for 2 nights, the 14'th and 15'th. and then you need to add 1 day on to the reservation you already have, I assume it was done online and is changable. You should be able to add the extra two days to your reservation then. Your only problem is that the Kalia studios are hard to get, but not impossible. Give it a few days after the Open season time to see if they come available. The only other option you have is to wait until you see the whole time you need at the Lagoon and then call them and ask if you can change the reservation to the Lagoon and add the extra days you need there.
