Tomorrow afternoon, we'll be arriving in Honolulu and checking in for our stay. I was wondering - as HGVC owners, what is the situation with tax being charged? While we have stayed elsewhere with HGVC, I know that Hawaii has specific tourism taxes and were wondering if those are applied?

I appreciate any info that you may have - thank you!

Yes, a daily tax will be charged to your room. Below is an example, I provided last year with my Hilton Hawaiian Village stay.

For example, here’s my portfolio for a one bedroom at Grand Islander at HHV. The daily Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT) was $15.54.

Its around $15 to $20 per night. I would assume, for the 1 BR. It is a formula based on MFs on the room category. But I don't know either the % or the MF$, so I can do is guess.

Just to round this out - we stayed in a 2BX unit for 8 nights. I want to say the tax was around $14-$15 per night, but I don’t exactly recall. They gave me a statement when I checked out, but I’ve since misplaced that.

It is based on some percentage (perhaps 12.5%) of 50% of the maintenance fees for the unit.

Does the TOT count toward the $200 Hilton Aspire Card Resort Credit?

I did get the resort credit on my Aspire card. Our total was $249 and change - this was the 8 nights of tax and one day of self parking. About 4 days later I noticed the $200 credit.

If it is a % of the MF, I wish the would just post the rate for each room size like RCI.

It changes every year, and it varies by building, that is way to complicated to publish every year.

I believe it does, I have triggered the credit at both Kingsland and HHV with my room charges. To get be fair my folio also had food and beverage charges, but the TOT was a part.
