HGVC concierge/reservations renting points for owners?

Just finished an owner review and the sales manager mentioned that if you have certain properties in high demand areas (Orlando, New York were examples) that HGV concierge would reach out to the owners to see if they had unused points and then they had a program to rent them through HGVC reservations. Have never heard of this before and it doesn't pass the BS sniff test....but wanted to ask. Has anyone else heard of this and is it a real thing? If yes, what do you have to do to make it happen?

Wow, total BS and in fact sounds like a typical cold-call scam going around. Secondly, Orlando isn't a high demand area, IMO.

I assume that they were trying to sell you one of those properties.
You assume correctly :). The pitch was basically buy this property and then you can have HGV rent out any points that you don't use and cover the maintenance fees. Both my wife and I were like that's too good to be true. Thanks to you and HuskerATL so far for confirming our suspicions.

Ask them to put that in writing with their names on it.... They will backpedal pretty quickly.

I know those offices don't offer a rental service to rent out points but Craig Lodges does. They have a rental service but owners have fixed weeks there and they rent out the week for a 20% cut.

re: rental assistance. Problem with Craig and any international resort if you don't live in that country is there is no easy/inexpensive way to file taxes in the foreign country for the rental income. AFAIK.

Hadn't thought about that part...I wonder how they document that for the rental.
