Hi Everyone.

Will be staying at the MarBrisa resort in early June. Does anyone have any updates on the property or any suggestions? I was told to be careful of the rooms next to Legoland because of the noise. Was also told that the resort is not quite up to HGVC standards yet, but, is going through renovations.

Not sure if any of that is true, but, regardless we are still going there. We are staying in a 3 bedroom suite (with 3 teens) for 6 days and we plan to visit San Diego and LA.

Any advise or suggestions anyone can provide would really be appreciated.

Thanks :)

This is brand new resort, so no need for any renovations.

Resort is still being built up, so there is some contruction going on. Main lobboy is still not built, they have one of a 2 bedroom condos converted as a lobby. If you like resorts with grand lobbies, you will be disappointed.

Noise is not an issue though. Units are very luxurious, well appointed, staff is extremely wonderful, this is one of the newer flagship HGVC resort in my opinion, based on its location in high demand coastal southern california.

I know some people on tripadvisor have left negative reviews because there are no washter/dryers inside the units, but are located outside the units and you share them with 3 other units, etc. Ignore this type of minor stuff and enjoy your trip, it is all great.

We stayed 3 nights last September in a studio unit across the road from the check-in. Very good quality, upper end unit with a view of a Legoland maintenance building. Not quite as bad as that sounds, but not a grand view either. We did use the washer/dryer combo for the building and they were fine. Reception/checkin also has the concierge and staff was definitely up to HGVC standards, even if the "lobby" wasn't yet.

I normally want a separate bedroom unit, but the unit was roomy, as was the bath and the studio kitchen was fairly well equipped. No complaints and I'd stay there again without hesitation.

We stayed 10 nights last summer in July in a two bedroom unit. Units are up to HGVC standards, and yes laundry is outside of unit abut no big deal. The master bath had a great tub. Our friends were in the 3 Bdr unit closer to legoland and had no issues with noise. Loegoland is not really a loud park and does not stay open very late IMHO. The pool area is small but we never felt crowed except for July 4th. In the future when the main lobby is built there will be a bigger pool area.

We just stayed there last week. The location is great. What's there is very nice. The amenities are limited at this point. No restauarants, small pool, minimal activities. But there is a Sheraton next door with a nice restaurant and lobby store. The noise from Legoland isn't nearly as bad as some reviews suggest. Last week the park was only open 10-6 anyway. Units are in great shape. The staff is exceptionally accommodating. Can't wait to go back once the second phase is built.

We stayed at MarBrisa last summer in a 2BR unit. Resort is new, but as mentioned, still dealing with growing pains. We arrived ~15 min before the lobby was supposed to close and it was shut tight as a drum with no one in sight. Had to use phone and call the Palisades office and they gave me a code to open a lockbox which had our keys and info and then we had to "check-in" in the morning. Kind of a pain. No issues with Legoland - they do close pretty early compared to Disneyland. Takes a good while to get to LA, so leave early or late - heavy traffic once you get close to LA. No issues going down to SD from Carlsbad. Nice drive either direction.

Definitely pick up the "Welcome Packet" when you register. There was a bunch of people waiting when we checked and so we didn't and went back a few days later to get it. Wish we had done it right away. There are some decent discounts at local restaurants. Some of which we already ate at without the discount.

The staff there is very helpful with reservations and making recommendations.

My kids are younger than yours so we probably have different ideas of what to do. Unless your teens are really into Legos, skip Legoland. Not many things for kids older than 12 to do there. We did Disneyland one day. It's about an hour if you leave early. We also did Balboa Park which I highly recommend.

As far as restaurants, we liked Dinis by the Sea. The restaurant in the Sheraton was pretty good too (Twenty/Twenty I think it's called). King's Seafood is another one we really enjoyed. Of course, I think my kids liked In and Out Burger the best though. Mid week we were fine, but on the weekends I would say reservations are a must for most of the restaurants.

If you enjoy running (or walking) at all, I probably enjoyed by daily jog down to the beach the best. It's about two miles. Some days I drove and parked so I could spend more of my miles running along the beach :whoopie:

There are plenty of options. Have a great time!

I just noted you said three teens with you. Worth noting, Costco is just across the street from Legoland which you'll be adjacent to.

With a little careful shopping you can bring in enough supplies to both cook and or veg there while saving some significant cash during your stay.
