Its a mundane customer-satisfaction survey, but one question did intrigue me: What three vacation-destinations would you visit, if HGVC offered a resort there?

In order of preference, I listed:
San Francisco - Napa Valley
Washington, D.C.
Jackson Hole, Wyoming

It was the best I could do on short notice.
I wonder if they are seriously considering expanding their horizons.

I've seen this question on surveys for several years. Obviously, it doesn't make a difference unless Hilton has long-range plans they've not released.

I think those are three excellent choices. :)

Yup, I've gotten this survey numerous times. Always with the same question.

Yet they never seem to get out of Orlando, Vegas or Hawaii.:(

Was the survey multiple choice or write in?

If it was write in, then HGVC management has not gotten an over whelming vote for one place or another. If it is multiple choice, the HGVC may be displaying to many choices to make a conclusive decision.

Write in, I would have put,
Reno, Nevada
Mexico
Caribbean

AND New York City! I enjoy staying at the NY Hilton Club that I don't end up trading to stay anywhere else anyway.

It's a write in response.

And even if it was multiple choice, HGVC does not seem to listen to HGVC owners that we want more Hilton built, not affiliated clubs outside Orlando, Vegas and Hawaii.

I like Aruba + Tahoe! CR? That's a little far a afield, but intriguing.
... I chose Jackson Hole over Tahoe for Yellowstone and the Tetons.

They'll start listening to their owners when sales dry up in the big three. Otherwise, they're in the business to sell timeshares and not to diversify to make current members happy. But, by not building somewhere else they've made me unhappy enough that I own two 3 bedroom units with Marriott rather than buying additional points with HGVC. I have no plans to extend my ownership with HGVC so long as their selection of Hilton built resort locations remains so slim.

We are seriously considering selling our HGVC membership because of this and some other reasons.:(

I still get usage out of my points. If nothing else, I'll convert to HHonors points in the years I don't want to use them. I'm adverse to giving RCI any week I own so I'll always try to find another way to use my points vs exchanging through RCI. 2008's points have gone for an exchange to Hawaii (much easier than trying to exchange using our Marriott ownership). 2009 and 2010 have gone to offset the cost of a Med. Cruise we wanted to take but, had to many timeshare weeks to try to use plus slip in a cruise (killed two birds with one stone). After 2010 we'll probably start using our 7000 points for stays in Vegas and Hawaii, depending on where we stand with using our Marriott Grand Chateau week.

The 7000 points we own is just enough. It gets us what we want and, since HGVC has so few choices that are Hilton built, it gets us all we'll use with HGVC. There is no reason for us to own more that a 2 bedroom Platinum season.

There a couple of things at play for us.

The first is probably because our teenage kids don't want to visit Vegas with us too much any more. So if we drive over to Vegas, my wife and I can still get cheap sleep and good fun downtown Vegas, since we hardly ever do the Strip anymore.

The other thing is that while my kids enjoyed Hawaii, they really didn't enjoy the Big Island too much on our last trip. So again, if and when we do get back to HI, as a family, it would be to Hawaiian Village only and as you know that is becoming harder and harder to book.

Sure the new Marbrisa is close to us. But my kids are too old for Legoland and while it may be fun for a couple of days, I doubt we would ever spend a week in Carlsbad. Not to say Carlsbad is a bad place, because it's not. But for us a couple of nights is enough, since the drive is less than 2 hours away.

While my kids would probably love to go to Disney World, and Orlando, I can't really get all excited about that, since Disneyland is about 30 minutes from home and it's just fine for me.

Now if HGVC had something in Tahoe or Northern California, that may be more tempting, but right now, I am not finding HGVC locations tempting enough for me to keep our membership. This isn't an ad, we haven't listed it and I am not sure we will, but we are thinking about selling.

With a 4 yo the Orlando space gives us a lot for several years to come. I'm currently in our first RCI exchange in Gatlinburg, TN... it's ok.

Washington DC would be a fantastic add IMO.

I would also throw in:

Charleston SC
New Orleans LA
