Thanks to Tug we saved 23k and 1k in maintenance fees. 6,000 club pts in Gold season EOY. 4 hour sales pitch and a missed reservation we were just done and signed. I meticulously research the smallest purchase on Amazon, I am just stunned I never even bothered to look at this. Partly because "we agreed to say no, no matter what."
We had no idea what we signed up for. They didn't even tell us what a home week was, just that is was in Hawaii.
We got a studio at Ocean Tower and the kicker is we are a family of 7. ‍♀️
Thanks to everyone on this forum I sent our recision letter the very next day. ( After not sleeping because I was reading TUG) Thanks again timeshare friends!

A studio for a family of seven would be quite cramped (not to mention they may not even let you do it since the rooms have max occupancy - studio is usually 2-4)!

Now you can buy a Platinum annual 2-3 bedroom deed that will hold the whole family for a fraction of the price!

I didn't even think about not letting us even stay. Might be a little hard smuggling in 5 kids.

Congrats on saving your family $23k. That was a very bad deal and not a fit for your family of 7 (or anyone for that matter).

Relax and research if you want to move forward on a resale for your family of seven. You can also rent from owners on TUG, Redweek or Koala to try before you buy.

I don't make any money from this but suggest that you pay it forward and join TUG for $15. Spending $15 to save $23k is a great return on investment.

Excellent news. Consider using a small fraction of the savings to become a member of TUG and help support this great site.

Cheers.

The sales team doesn’t have your best interest at heart. They don’t care if your family of 7 is not a good match for a studio. They will just sell you whatever for the most money they think they can get from you. Later, when you realize you don’t have enough points they will try to get you to buy again, paying even more money, to upgrade.

Congrats on saving $23K. You really did save that because what they sold you for $23K could very likely be had for FREE on the resale market. So technically, you could have both - your $23K refunded and that exact same deed on the resale market. Recommended though is to research, find out what and where fits your family best and then purchase resale.

Studio's are 2 Max. 1 bedroom are 4.
For a family of 7 you might want to consider either a 3 bdrm HGVC that you regularly visit, or explore a resale week deed in the MVC and Vistana (Westin/Sheraton) system where 2 bdrms can accommodate 8 people.
