Today was mid to high 80's and kind of muggy, due to weather conditions in the Gulf of Mexico.....

But tonight, my gosh...it was darn near perfect in my backyard! It's 9:30 PM and still 72 degree's. There was a slight ocean breeze cooling things off this evening....

Now...if we could just fix the traffic!!! :D

The weather tonight was the kind of weather that makes Southern California PERFECT!

I agree with you it is a lovely night. :) I find it a kind of humid today that we aren't used to. It must be the storm you wrote about.

I have a nice fire in the backyard fire pit, a cold beer and it's gorgeous still...I am very happy on nights like this to live here. :)

I think we are getting the leftover from a storm down south....Out in the deserts I think they are having rain and monsoons....Up around Big Bear, Baker and Las Vegas etc.

Now, back to the yard!

My wife fixed the traffic problem for me (I am a native of Los Angeles), she moved me to Santa Barbara. Its a slow sleepy town on the beach. Lovely.

By the way, for the first time I recently drove Highway 1 from Monterey to Santa Barbara. What a beautiful drive! The coast highway has incredible views. Anyone looking for a trip idea should give the California Central coast top priority.

You are right, Santa Barbara is a wonderful place....But I can barely afford to live here in LA....and I am quite certain I couldn't afford to live in Santa Barbara! :D

Isn't that a great drive? I am like you, we drove that for the first time last year, the Big Sur area was amazingly beautiful. :)

No monsoons last night, although Laughlin got hammered by a stalled storm from what I understand. We were quite muggy, though, for us, about 40%. It's now about 9:30 Am and its 93º. Our low this morning (about 5 Am or a bit later) was 79º.

I've been in Vegas during monsoon season, in fact it was when I was in Vegas that I learned about the desert monsoons coming up from the Gulf of California and even from the Gulf of Mexico.

The heat plus the humidity are no fun...good thing everything has AC,

I've been so miserable from the heat over the past few days. Take a shower and within 2 minutes of getting out, I'm sweating profusely again.

Late yesterday afternoon I walked outside and said, "there must be a hurricane somewhere." The heat/humidity combination is a dead giveaway.

Evenings are fine, though.

I'm in San Jose right now, where it hasn't even broken into the 80's the past few days. That's OK--I left Denver at 103 degrees. I always forget how mild the summers are here near the coast.

I have lived many different places around the US as well as Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela. I am retired now so we can live wherever we want. We would never consider living anywhere else than where we live now in Southern California. We love it here, not just for the weather but for many other reasons. Our second choice would be in the SF Bay area. We have lived in Southern California for many years and also lived in the SF Bay area for several years.
