I made a reservation for a Fri-Mon stay within 10 days of check-in in a 1BR. The original cancelation date was on Wednesday 48 hours before check-in. That is all good.
I found a 2BR for the first 2 nights Fri/Sat, so I booked it.
On Wednesday, I called to modify the original 1BR for Sunday only. Per guidelines, the cancel-by date is Friday or 48 hours before check-in.
Then I found a 2BR a day after on Thursday so I booked it and asked the representative to join it so I have 3 nights in a 2BR.
At the end of the call, I asked for the 1BR on Sunday to be canceled, She stated, she could do it but I would lose $100+ as I am past cancelation. I explained that it was booked within 14 days and we were more than 48 hours before check-in. She said the cancellation-by-date was yesterday since the system does not change it even if we add or remove days to the front.
I asked to be transferred to Owner Care and insisted on getting a refund so she made a one-time exception and did it !!!!!!!. I explained to the OC rep that the software should match the club guidelines and not the other way around.
The interesting part is my 2BR has a cancelation date of Friday which is the check-in day as the reservation for the 2 nights (Fri/Sat) was merged with the one for Sunday and not the other way around.
What a mess but this is Worldmark software for you.
So make sure to check the reservation email and note the cancel-by date which could differ from the guidelines !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A good way to use it is if you are past the cancel-by date on a reservation and you want to cancel it, make a new reservation in the same room type one day after the check-out date of the existing reservation and ask them to join it with the existing reservation. This will move your cancel-by date and make it match the new reservation which could be in bonus time so 48 hour window. Creepy but I think it works until they fix the garbage website.
