Help with MR air+hotel package

I've been reading lots of posts regarding MR package changes coming Jan. 15. So it got me thinking to use some of my points before the changes happen. If I order the air+hotel package how long does it take for the FF miles to show in my account and would I see them before Jan. 15?
I read something about paying an extra fee for faster service . . . but how much is the charge? This is all new to me so looking for any advice to get it started before I run out of time.

The FF miles should show up in your airline FF account within one to five days of ordering the Travel Package, depending on the airline. No need to pay an expedite fee.

Before ordering the package, you should go to the airline's site and go through the motions of seeing if award seats are available for your choice of dates and destination. Once the FF miles are in your account, you can't cancel the Travel Package.

Also, check to see if there is space at the hotel where you want to stay. Although most (not all) blackout dates will disappear after January 15, that doesn't guarantee that a room will be available in high season.

I went back and read several of your posts about ordering the travel packages. I made the reservation online for the Marriott Champs-Elysees. (I was surprised to see availability with Standard Rewards). I called Marriott and ordered the travel cert. They attached the travel cert. to my hotel reservation over the phone. As soon as I get the FF miles I can book my flights. I did do some testing online and can see that flights are available for my time frame. This will be for our 30th wedding anniversary and it probably would not have happened without the use of MR points.

Paris here we come!
