hello,

I think I am going to take the dive and buy 154 points via ebay.

I have some questions if anyone can answer them:

1) Some want $ to pre-paid MFs for 2009. IS that ok? Are they usually billed once per year?

2) Are closing costs between $450-$500 (without $100 transfer fee) normal?

3) What are Housekeeping credits? Are there a specific number assigned to the number of points you have? Do I need to confirm how many HK credits I get with the year? is it expensive if you go over?

4) I want to get points and use them, and be able to bank. IS there a type of week (convert, UDI) that I need to buy or make sure I dont?

5) what would be a good MF yearly range? (I dont have a specific Resort I am tied to)

6) I only know II. I have seen RCI threads that people deposit points they dont use. Will I be able to do that? How much (points) are weeks?

Any other tips would be welcome!

Thanks

Jim

hello,

Yes it OK for you to pre pay but you must insist that the seller pay the MF NOW!!! Not wait and pay them when you close. This will insure that if closing is delayed you don't end up paying late fees.

2) Are closing costs between $450-$500 (without $100 transfer fee) normal?
$300 is great but $450- $500 is more normal.

3) What are Housekeeping credits? Are there a specific number assigned to the number of points you have? Do I need to confirm how many HK credits I get with the year? is it expensive if you go over?
As long as you stay full weel it is unlikely you'll run out of HK credits but if you stay in 3-4 day blocks you could run out.

4) I want to get points and use them, and be able to bank. IS there a type of week (convert, UDI) that I need to buy or make sure I dont?
You need to make sure that you don't buy a non converted week. Since all UDI week are in FSP points, buying a UDI week ensures that you'll be in points but buying a converted week can be cheaper and still get you in FSP points.

5) what would be a good MF yearly range? (I dont have a specific Resort I am tied to)
For 150K pts about $600 would be great.

6) I only know II. I have seen RCI threads that people deposit points they dont use. Will I be able to do that? How much (points) are weeks?
Wyn has a list of what it takes to get you what kind of week (by size and week color):
Studio --70K- red, -- 42K - White, -- 28K- Blue
1 bd --105K- red, -- 77K - White, -- 63K- Blue
2 bd --154K- red, -- 126K - White, -- 77K- Blue
3 bd --254K- red, -- 189K - White, -- 154K- Blue

Hope this helps
