Hello,
I ended up with excess points the year before and deposited in RCI as the last alternative. I have not been a fan of RCI because with resale, I have to book a week, the additional fees you have pay (too high since I have already paid for the points), and I have personally seen where the RCI rooms are placed in non desirable locations (i.e. parking lot view or the building across the street from the beach with no view).

Problem:
What can I do with approx. 530K RCI points??

Your help appreciated!

Thanks,
Deborah

If you're not interested in traveling with them (we've used points for the Manhattan Club and for DVC resorts on Disney property), another option is transferring them to another Wyndham owner in RCI.

@A.Win may have some suggestions on how to make use of these points.

if you have a regular RCI points account, many resorts charge about a $100 fee for RCI points reservation, particularly for reservations lasting less than one week. You don’t get charged such for Wyndham RCI weeks vacations.

I personally like to use Wyndham RCi points when I already used RCI TP to book Massanutten or Williamsburg, and I’m limited by the 1/4 rule.

also, RCi Wyndham often have sales. Cant you use 126k points to book a 2BR at Massanutten or Williamsburg or Shenandoah four times? Or 159k to book a 4BR three times?

We are talking Wyndham points, then? I would book anything but DRI or Hilton, both of which charge outrageous daily fees. The only way these companies will back down is if we stop going to these resorts and acquiescing to ridiculous fees.

Some fees are okay with me, like the HK fee because if I stay a short time, I know someone has to pay that fee, and it's going to be the person using the unit.

Enter some ongoing searches and see what you can get. I just got a great week at Bailey's Harbor in Door County for late August. I am thrilled with that. Rick said, "What are we going to do in Wisconsin?" Lots to do. He will love it. I don't see any extra charges on that exchange confirmation.

RCI started adding the disclaimer that there may be extra fees charged by the resort. That doesn't mean there will be. A simple phone call...

Still watching for a week to go with our Bailey's Harbor week, somewhere a day's drive away. Not many timeshares in Ohio or Iowa.

Maybe consider booking some destination units and renting them?

Right, but you can get a guest certificate from RCI.
If RCi catches you, then will cancel the rez and strand the renter. It’s happened.

Really? I thought that was only with their discounted specials. Thanks!

People rent out Saratoga Springs on Ebay all the time even though it's against the rules. I don't think it's actually enforced. I'm not saying to do it, but I've complained to RCI before about all of the Ebay RCI listings and nothing has been done about it.

People have been complaining about this for years.

With an RCI weeks account you can pay something like $65 to add someone to your account as a friends and family member. The cost may have gone up since I looked into it a few years ago hoping to add my sister. It was good for several years, maybe 3? Unfortunately you can only do this with a weeks account not a points account. I don't know if you can do it with the free weeks account we get with our Wyndham ownership but for some people it would be worth looking into.

It's been over $149 10 years ago. Its called a guest pass. It is good for 5 years. The fee is $179. I am not sure if it can be added to a Wyndham rci account.

Thanks, I'd forgotten all the relevant details. After someone told me about it I called and was really disappointed that I couldn't get it for my sister on our RCI points account. Since I book them vacations several a year it would have been well worth paying to have.
