I've just booked a 2/2/6 unit at Bali Hai for next March.I will be guest certificating to my mom who is getting remarried next March (she's been widowed twice, and just turned 70 this past week.) Here's my questions:

Would writing a letter to management help in securing a unit with a better view?...a honeymoon suite hopefully!

She and my new step-father will probably arrive a day after the standard Saturday check-in day....what issues could arise if they show up on Sunday?

Thanks in advance fellow TUGgers!

I am sure the management company will try to make everyone happy. But may not be able to. Still you should ask, they may try to arranage something or watch into detail.

Let them know your parent will be in later one day.

Is this an exchange, a Wyndham FairShare reservation, or a deeded owner reservation.

This is important because the ability of the resort to accommodate a request is closely connected with the source of the week. For example, our unit is a one-bedroom unit, but it was sold as a s penthouse unit. Consequently, when we reserve a unit, our reservation comes from a pool of one-bedroom penthouse units, and the inventory control system needs to hold inventory to reflect such commitments. IOW - they may not be able to upgrade you to a penthouse unit until shortly before check-in if there are penthouse unit owners who haven't already reserved units.

Steve, it is an RCI exchange for a 2/2/6. The confirmation only indicates a 2-br unit and does not indicate a unit number.

When my family stayed at Bali Hai in 3/08, the front desk was helpful in attempting to put us in a location we wanted. I called the week before to ask, then brought it up again at check-in.

This was an internal booking, not RCI, so I don't know if that will effect things. It never hurts to put in the request.

You can put in the request; as an exchanger they can put you any place they have room.

I believe Pahio policy is to give first preference to requests made by returning owners. After owner requests are completed then exchanger requests are accommodated.

And there is no such thing as a honeymoon suite at Bali Hai. But just send Bali Hai an email indicating you want a penthouse unit, it doesn't hurt to ask.
