Help arranging a Honeymoon Gift Experience on Oahu

A dear friend's daughter is getting married in early August and and then departing to Hawaii for their honeymoon. As our wedding gift, I would like to provide them with a memorable "experience" while they are there.

I was thinking along the lines of a nice private supper on the beach at sunset. The hotel they are staying at is near Waikiki, but not on the beach and has no restaurant on site. I was hoping that someone here may be able to recommend a place to contact that could arrange something like this.

I'm also open to any and all ideas that you experienced Hawaiian travelers may have about other experiences they might enjoy. Something that knocked your socks off and when you were young and on a budget you would have considered it a major splurge.

My wife and I used to go to Hy's in Waikiki on special occasions. It's not on the beach, but it is a very nice experience.

Also, Beachhouse Waikiki might be a consideration.

Not sure, so far I can't even get someone to answer the phone. Hopefully I will have better luck today (or Monday).

I think hotel concierges only work for this sort of request/need at higher end resorts (think Four Seasons etc.) If you can't even get someone to answer the phone I suspect that the "concierge" may be the front desk or may just give you restaurant recommendation.

A Luau might be a good gift for a young couple on a budget.
Luau's can be pretty pricey for those on a budget. You're basically paying for the entertainment.

I like the show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. You can purchase one of their packages that includes round trip transportation, guided tour, Luau and the evening show.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I think I may have found a good spot (Beachhouse at the Moana) - thanks Sponger76!

As it turns out, what I was originally envisioning really isn't available in Waikiki, but this looks like a great alternative. Romantic location and they type of meal that they would never be able to afford at their age.

Yeah, Waikiki's just not the kind of area that allows for private, on the beach dining. I figured Beachhouse would be a nice alternative that is still fronting the beach. But I still highly recommend Hy's though it's been quite a few years since I've been there.

Hy's is still awesome. No view but Great food, service and atmosphere.

Another option for a special meal would be Orchids Restaurant | Dining | Halekulani Hotel. The hotel itself is lovely, in a quiet understated way, and an interesting place to walk around. There is hula and Hawaiian music also at the hotel at the House Without A Key | Dining | Halekulani Hotel. They might want to consider that for a walk-in drink for some real Hawaiian hula culture.

The Halekulani is a very nice, very high end hotel. It also happens to be where my senior prom was held.

I took my wife and daughter to eat there at the La Mer restaurant once. Very $$$. The food, to me, was ok, but to this day the service was the best I have ever experienced, anywhere, and well worth the cost to experience just once.
