HONOLULU — Friday, the state Board of Land and Natural Resources voted unanimously to fine two Hawai‘i island aquarium fishers $272,000 in civil fines for multiple violations of Hawai‘i Administrative Rules related to an illegal aquarium-fishing incident in Kona in 2020.

I had not heard this story, glad he was fine. Seems even worse to read that he left two divers behind in open water after he caught and ordered to shore...

I would guess that's the idea, along with the apparent parallel criminal prosecution.

re leaving the women out there, I suspect he knew they were both highly skilled and capable of returning to shore on their own - which they did. This clearly was not the first time they had done this.

Hopefully this huge fine not only deters him from doing it again but also others who might be thinking of doing the same.

I just pray that the court system do not lower the fines or dismissed the charges.
This bad guy and associates must pay for their actions IMHO.
