In scheduling a test sans insurance, they told me about a site that can help defray costs for me.

Please note, I have only cruised the site a bit and not actually done the deal, but, this was DR's office telling me to go here, so, I like my odds that it isn't a scam.

That has been a complaint for decades. No one knows what the procedure costs. For instance, with most Medicare Advantage plans, they will give you a fixed copay for doctors, specialists, urgent care, ER (if not admitted), ambulance, hospital stay, and some diagnostics. The rest is usually 20%. Of what? What if the procedure is $10k? You still owe $200. Or if you have an HSA/FSA with a high deductible, you pay 100%. But even then, it may be lower because the insurance agency may have negotiated a lower cost. Sadly, the worst is chemotherapy. You're looking at up to 20%, which can mean you're on the hook for thousands.

Any help you can get with estimating costs is helpful!
