After 5 years of being away, we are heading to Kauai tomorrow! Looking forward to the trip, but I have two quick questions:

-The weather forecast seems to be calling for rain almost every day. Anyone heading to the islands with any better update? I can't really tell if it's going to be worse in Kauai than the other islands, or if it just the isolated showers that happen from time to time on the Garden Isle!

-Anything new in the last five years that we should do/see/experience/eat/enjoy?

Can't wait to get back to Waiohai!

Thanks!

Yippee! Have a wonderful time! Weather forecast for us in December was much the same. It would rain, and then suddenly be sunny. No different from any other visit to Kauai. You can easily assess the incoming weather and delay your walk for a few minutes. When out driving, you will alternately have your car be filthy, and then magically cleaned! Just be sure you are very familiar with your windshield wiper operation before you need them.

What's different? There is now a mall to the west of the resort with some restaurants that you might want to visit. There is a healthy grocery with a deli that is very popular. Good, good sandwiches there, but you must plan ahead and wait a bit for them to be "created".

The resort no longer has the small restaurant, no real loss...

All is well at Waiohai.

The new mall is nice but not very busy. I thought the healthy grocery store was way over priced. I wouldn't use it for main shopping. There is also an ice cream shop that has frequent buyer card and Bubba's burgers. My kids loved having a Bubba's burgers close by.

We love stopping at Kauai Bakery and Cinnamon in the Kukui Grove Center the main mall. The bakery is near the Sears. Anyways, they have great pies and they are all homemade. We always pick up a few...

Have fun!

We're on Kauai now. It starts out a little cloudy and maybe a little rain in the
Morning and evening. During the day it's been great. We only had a little rain
During the day in Hanalei. Just enough to clean the car.:D
