DW and I have an exchange reservation to Eagle Crest in Redmond, OR for early part of June. I called the resort today. They confirmed they're open and have remained open throughout the course of the pandemic, the golf course is open, and the restaurants are open, though operating on take-out basis only. A lot of the normal summertime activities will be either restricted or canceled, but this particular resort is known for having great walking/hiking trails and lots of opportunities to rent bicycles and enjoy the beauty of central Oregon.

It's a short trip from our home in Northern CA, so we've decided we're going. We have not cancelled our United Express flight reservations. I checked to see what the flight looks like, and it's still scheduled, though practically empty. If we decide to cancel the flight--and we're leaning toward keeping it--we would take the approximately 8 hour drive. And since it's just the two of us, we won't have difficulty practicing social distancing.

It will seem strange to be in a resort area during peak season with sparse crowds, but I have a feeling we're going to love it. It will certainly be a different kind of travel experience.

Sounds like a fun trip even if you drive up there. We drove up once when we lived in San Jose and enjoyed the resort and surrounding area. That was about 25 years ago so I imagine the area has matured since then. Have a great time.

Best regards.

We still have a bunch of family members and friends scattered throughout Dechutes County. Most are introverts and have always practiced social distancing before it became a thing. From what I'm told , fishing will be open but only to Oregon residents. Eagle Crest is a fun place to hang out. The entire area is pretty cool nature wise.

We loved going there for spring break when we lived in the Seattle area. We would get several units in a row and take the families of our son's high school friends. It was a perfect spot with activities for everyone in the group and close to Redmond, OR, for a restaurant or two. All the boys loved the golf course and there's also a great miniature golf course on site, too. Several of us enjoyed the indoor tennis facility and took a lesson together.

We were there over Thanksgiving a couple years ago and are booked for Thanksgiving this year. We were super impressed at how well the units had been redone.

We were supposed to be at the VI Resort - The Pines in Sun River May 1 to 21 but the resort is closed to May 15 and it now looks like it will be closed to the end of May. We had one of the 3 hard to get 2 bedroom cabins right on the Sun River. Would be a nice place to quarantine but getting sick away from home is not an appealing prospect.

If you ever go again I think you'll be amazed. The city of Bend which was almost nothing 25 years ago now reminds me of either Los Gatos or Willow Glen. I figure that would work as a comparison since you lived in San Jose. I'm next door to S.J. in Cupertino. We drive to Eagle Crest about every 5 years.
