Got this DVD of Queen LILIUOKALANI's life from netflix.

So moving it brought both of us to tears.:bawl:

Essential viewing for those who love the Hawaiian people.

I rented it from Netflix last month and was also moved.

I just finished reading Unfamiliar Fishes by Sarah Vowell which covers the events leading up to American annexation. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed the movie. Watched after someone had recommended here some months ago. Just won the book on an eBay auction. Can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks for the recommendation.

I am currently reading, "Lost Kingdom" by Julia Flynn Siler. It's subtitled, "Hawaii's Last Queen, the Sugar Kings, and America's First Imperial Adventure". Very well-documented look at the era of America's rise to power in the islands, and subsequent overthrow of the monarchy.
