Hawaiian flights since 4/22/26

We are flying directly from Vegas to Maui in August. They use a 3x3 configured seating plan rather than a 2x4x2. We prefer the later, but don’t want to fly through HNL to get to Maui.
I read an article that AS thought HA was not using the 2x4x2 long haul planes efficiently from the West Coast. They have all been switched to 3x3 Airbus. The long haul HA planes will be redeployed to Seattle where AS plans to start offering direct to Europe flights.

We fly HA from Long Beach, there are two flights in the morning OGG and HNL.

Not all, if any. Many flights to HNL from west coast still on A330 widebody.

Alaska seems to have adopted the Hawaiian model of routing west coast flights (Bay Area) through Honolulu instead of direct flights to the other islands.
Alaska Air and Hawaiian Airlines are the same airline now. But your comment is not true. OAK, SFO and SJO all have nonstop flights to the outer islands.

Sorry, I have been flying SJC to KOA for years direct and scheduled a flight in September that was changed to going through HNL. I looked to find a different day for a direct but they show none.

That is sad news that the KOA/SJC flights are no longer non-stop. We usually book the non-stop and drive south to Monterey. This coming September we booked KOA/SAN/MRY with our fingers crossed that the rental car agency will still be open when we arrive at 11:50pm.

Big Island yes, other outer islands I don't think so.

Thanks Dave. I had not seen or heard of that change.

I should add that we've had the larger planes directly to Maui only during the higher demand times of the year. There are a lot of people from Hawaii living in Las Vegas, so maybe that will lead AS to keep the larger planes during higher demand times of the year. It definitely makes for a more comfortable experience.

I got this in my ATMOS email update yesterday, already advertising Italy direct from Seattle. They will be using the HA 787s with all new livery, no Eskimo on the tail.

Alaska has started flying Seattle to London non-stop for about 30,000 points on their 2x4x2 Dream Liner. They go to Iceland too. Their plan includes other European destinations.

I am note sure what you mean by "already advertising" but AS is already flying SEA to Rome.
Alaska Airlines new direct global route using the 787 aircraft acquired in the HA buyout, as opposed to Aer Lingus codeshare with stopover in Dublin.

Correct, AS is flying from SEA to FCO. Not sure what Aer Lingus has to do with that.

Alaska does use partner airlines to fly to most of their European destinations from Seattle. London and Reykjavik are Alaska aircraft with non-stop from Seattle.

In the air now on HI, booked HI in January. Now a combination app, so surprised the points are different. As to the flight all the same as my previous HI air flights, a pleasure compared to other airlines. Plane is 2x4x2 configuration.
