IMO...sad to see Ahi Assassin go. I haven't eaten at the others on the list.

Sad. I wonder if any of our favorites on Maui are going to end up on that list. I had looked up a few of them and noticed they weren't even doing take out.

Yes, it will be sad to see if any of our favorites on Maui close permanently. Many closed and not open for even takeout, so our choices for the next 4-5 weeks will be limited. So far these are the places currently only that I’m aware of: Roy’s (fri/sat/sun dine-in, + takeout available all? Days), Teddy’s burger, gazebo - as long as there’s business, Lahaina Pizza, Sea House. Haven’t checked into toward Kihei or wailea, but we typically don’t travel that far unless maybe for mama’s and they are simply closed for now. things like round table, subway, Panda Express are open, but we typically don’t do fast food much, unless we needed a break during our quarantine for pizza delivery.

Sounds like Coconuts Fish Cafe in Kihei is open for takeout and dine in. I love their fish tacos. They have a good menu.

I looked up Maui restaurants closed to see who might be on the list. So far, none of the places we eat, but I did see that Buzz's Wharf on Maalea Harbor was closing after many years in business. A few restaurants, like Mama's Fish House, and the Gannon restaurants have closed temporarily.

@slip we like Coconuts as well. They have two locations in Kihei. We've been going to the newer one since they have seating.

I hope TJ survives (Dukes, Kimo's, Sunnyside Tahoe etc) and Marugame Udon in Waikiki. Our trip is not complete without a visit to one of these.

I would think/hope that the restaurants that are "larger" or associated with a group, like Duke's and Kimo's, would survive. I've been going to Kimo's since they first opened (almost).

I call hula grill and kimos each day, and check the website, but don’t think they are opening anytime soon, so they’ll reopen maybe (?) after the quarantine is lifted and tourists start coming Back. I respect them for keeping closed for the health and safety of their staff. Let’s just hope the business can survive and ride this pandemic out.

I read and article and one of the major restaurant owners, (maybe Roy's, not sure) said they need the hotels to hit 50% occupancy before they will reopen. Basically they lose less money staying closed than opening up to weak demand...

Marugame Udon is open now. I believe they were doing takeout only for a while. They are dine in now. That’s one of my favorites since I moved here.

We are using estimates that 25% of restaurants will not re-open.

Lyft driver stated much more Restaurents open in Kihei. Very few tourists here in kaanapali / Lahaina as there just a few 3-6 at various timeshares. cool cat, Lahaina pizza, Roys, gazebo, sea house are open for dine in but not necessarily all days. Most in this area will probably not open until tourists allowed unrestricted since many lose more money partially open, so not worth it to open. Gazebo Restaurant view
