Does anyone know what the current occupancy tax is in Hawaii for a 1 bedroom timeshare? Specifically the Marriott Kauai Beach Club.
I think this is actually the TSO, from the TAT brochure that @BingoBangoBongo posted in post #4. It is calculated based on the maintenance fee.The Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) is collected each day from the occupant, by the resort. It's based on fair market value, which is apparently derived from square footage of the unit, per a Marriott rep. For Example a 1BR MOC Lahaina unit is a bit over $21, while the studio is less than $2/day... the two BR is around $23. Apparently the ratio from studio to to 1BR is a bit strange.
Was your unit possibly a 1BR last year?On my last week's bill from MOC - Lahaina, it says $25.50 per night VOCC TAX for 2 Bedroom. It was $21.25 last year. I don't think it is based on MF because the MF has not increased by 20%. I remember the front desk mentioned that it is based on the size of the unit.
If I use my timeshare points in Hawaii, I have to pay additional local taxes?

I would think the MF is different between Lahaina and the old section. So you can't necessarily compare year over year at what is two different properties. It was 2 BR too. For the MOC old building, the 2BR tax last year was $18.97, will report after this week what the new fee will be.
It should be solely for the days you check in, as it hits the card you use at registration on a daily basis. If you do an II exchange but arrive late, do they still tax you for week or just the days you are there?
