Out of all the recent news out of the state, including the bankruptcy filing of our local phone company, this one really caught my eye.
Hawaii signed a deal with Better Place to build 50,000 - 100,000 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state.

Better Place has an interesting concept and business model. www.betterplace.com
If you think about it, Hawaii is really an ideal place for electric vehicles. Most trips are relatively short, even on the big island. And gas prices are always much higher here than on the mainland.
The infrastructure will include the charging stations and battery swap stations. The battery swap takes less time that filling a tank with gas.
