Tried the Beyond Meat frozen crumbles tonight over penne pasta and Rao’s Garlic Sauce. Didn’t like them like I liked the burgers. I wouldn’t buy these again. My other half thought it was satisfying but not tasty enough to eat a second helping. Told me next time to add more flavoring. Anyone who is familiar with Rao’s Garlic Sauce knows if that doesn’t flavor nothing will.

Have a package of their ground beef and sausage in my freezer. Will be interesting to see how they come out.

I love their hot italian sausage links (the brats are ok). I'm not as much a fan of the beefless crumbles as I am the Gardein brand.

Yesterday, I finally got around to making using the Beyond Meat Ground package. I decide to make meatballs. It was one of the few meat dishes I liked as a kid. I haven’t had them in decades.

I really enjoyed them. I didn’t know if it was because I was sick for awhile and it just tasted good because I hadn’t had anything of substance for awhile or they were good.

My other half, the big meat eater, wasn’t home when they were made so he had to reheat them. I just had some with a piece of bread. He made a big pasta bowl with his favorite sauce.

His take, he loved them. He said whereas with the burgers, which he liked, it didn’t really taste like meat, with the meatballs he wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

I bought some for half off when they were near their expiration date. They taste like meat to me. I was hoping they would be lower in fat and sodium, but I guess flavor is the number one priority.

Even at half off, it is still about $5 per pound.

We tried the Impossible Whopper today. I could definitely tell a difference. There was a flavor that just was not beef. It was not unpleasant just different. I have a slight preference for the real whopper but would certainly order these again as we try to eat down the food chain a couple times a week. One peculiarity was the price. Since BK put them on there 2 for 6 bucks option we ordered two. The price for one was 6.19. I'll take two thank you. I think this was higher than the other local BK's as this one closed for a while and then reopened. Do not understand the business sense to reopen a restaurant at higher prices that could not survive before. The place was pretty much a wreck too,

I’ve had the impossible whopper and actually preferred it to the beef they serve.

I never tried the impossible burger because when it was released it wasn’t gluten free. I just read they changed their recipe and now it is gluten free.

I love the Beyond Meat burger, eventually I will try the impossible burger. Ingredients between the two products are totally different. Would be interesting to do a side by side taste.

I have not had the Impossible Burger, but like was pointed out, it is not necessarily more healthy.

I have two good vegetarian recipes which I like to use when I want to go meatless. Meatless chili and meatless chunky spaghetti sauce. They both have good off the shelf ingredients. If I want a burger, I will have an occasional hamburger. I'm willing to expand my recipe box. I also don't mind eating a good Caesar Salad (with or without grilled chicken) for a meal as well as a Greek salad.

If you don't want to eat something which does not have a face and want a burger, I guess that is an option and I'm glad you have a choice.

just had impossible burger yesterday at a place in NY called Bareburger. It was really good. I’ve also had beyond burger there. I prefer impossible burger patties to beyond. I’m interested to try the KFC beyond chicken.

I would try the Beyond burger at home. If it is overcooked at a restaurant it will not taste good.

I am now making this once a week as my other half loves it and he is a meat eater. It makes me happy as I prefer vegetarian. It is a meal I can make for both of us as I do not eat ground beef.

I was for the longest time- not a vegan, but a pesci vegetarian- fish only plus veggies and fruits and grains. But i got bored and it was tough going out to some functions as the only vegetarian options are always pasta and salad maybe.

So I started to allow myself turkey as it is less available than chicken and gives me something else to eat. But lately I find myself eating a little meat here and there and not getting crazy about stuff- like there is pork in the fried rice or chicken broth as a base for soup. I am not fanatical about it.

Husband eats meat so I get tired of making two things for dinner.
Another recent post -- mentioned the burden of having to answer the question 'what's for dinner?' I can't begin to imagine having to plan meat & meatless every night.

If my other half wants meat for a meal, he cooks it. To smell it is bad enough for me, no way I am cooking it. If he wants what I am cooking I just make more. He cooks a lot.

According to a Wall Street Journal article, at least at some supermarkets, the vegan meat substitutes are not selling even in a time of shortage. So, with the coronovirus spreading, perhaps it is time to become vegan.

For the record, I have not tried the Beyond Meat burger myself. It is not that it is meatless. I tend to avoid all processed foods because of their artificial ingredients.

I tried Beyond Beef in some tacos a while back at On The Border. It was disgusting. Of course the meal in general was disgusting, but it sure didn't want to make me buy the product to eat at home.

Omg I saw this thread again pop up and it reminded me I still have them frozen behind all of the chicken and steaks i bought at Costco! Having a burger for lunch tomorrow!!

on another note @Panina have you tried miracle noodle? I was in Costco and all the pasta was cleared out. These were left so i figure hey why not. 0 calorie, 0 Carb Organic, GF Plant based noodles. I did a stir fry last night and they were great! Pretty tasteless but it gives you that noodle texture. Package says it’s 97% water. I may throw some sauce on them and see if I can get by using it as a pasta dish.

I assume they used the crumbles and they aren’t very good. I got them once and never will again. The burgers are good and I used the brick pack for meatballs and lasagna and the meat lover, my other half like them.

They are processed so we only use it once a week but if you cannot get your meats this could be a alternative for now.

Yes they have be around awhile, tried them years ago. Didn’t like the smell but if that is all I could get I would definitely get them as they would work. It is years since I had so maybe they got rid of the smell, did you notice any smell?

I love 100% green lentil pasta. Many more calories then the miracle noodles but good protein and very filling.

I tried them. They're OK. Sure as heck not grass fed Angus, but passable. One day early this week there was ZERO beef in the store. Some pork ribs and salmon that come in frozen and a few packages of ersatz patties. Nobody was buying them- even marked down.

I finished the last of my frozen turkey burgers last night. Hope they have some more on my next foray to the provisioner.

Passable is better then you couldn’t eat it. With all the fixings on it, it tastes better.

I bought the edamame spaghetti two weeks ago but have not tried it yet. I was eating too much soy and decided I needed to stop for awhile. I will let you know what I think when I try it.

I have the black bean and I can’t find it. I went back to Costco and looked for the edamame spaghetti and it was all gone. I really don’t want to go to costco again. I don’t need much.

Had the beyond burger tonight. Was good. Very filling! Also, thanks a lot I smelled the bag of the noodles! It smells like seaweed/fish food haha. I had to pretend I was eating seaweed salad because I just kept remembering the smell. I couldn’t smell it after it was cooked or while I was eating it but I kept thinking about It.

Glad you liked the burger. Sorry about the noodle smell. If you boil the noodles before preparing it helps the smell go away. I will pass on them.

Ha. Maybe I’ll try that. I did a stir fry with them. But I will try the boiling next. Thanks for the tip
