I want to share my experiences with your today on my entire afternoon call with Vistana Owner Services today (on hold 48 minutes, and then 41 minutes on hold again after being disconnected by them). My husband and I own at Harborside and Sheraton Flex. We paid our club fee for ABOUND with our Harborside maintenance fee. We then received a letter saying we owe our ABOUND club fee. When I finally got to speak to a representative I was told yes, I should only pay one ABOUND club fee and that there were system issues. After she spoke to her supervisor for like 20 minutes she came back and said that we do owe the club fee twice because that is the policy because on one property I am the primary owner and my husband is secondary, and the reverse is true on the other property. She said the ABOUND system bills for each separately named primary user even if they are married. I said the deeds have both our names on them jointly. So I said to her if we owned the same properties but let's say my husband was the primary owner on both we would only pay the ABOUND club fee once? She said yes. I said that was the stupidest thing I ever heard. This penalizes married couples who sometimes switch off who is a primary name on things. We could own the same properties, with the same names on the deed and yet we have to pay for the club fee twice while others may own the same thing without the primary owner split. I said that wasn't fair. I am paying twice for one usage. She agreed. However, to not mess up my usage I had to pay the additional club fee. I then opened up an issue and escalated it up the chain for resolution. They are going to look into the problem and decide if I have a good case and refund my second club fee. It should be based on properties owned and not who is primary or secondary owner as that can be arbitrarily decided.

If it’s joint but under different primary social security numbers then it would be two separate customers.

Thanks for the info. Our accounts are linked and we are not two separate customers though. It may be that way but it shouldn't be treated as such.

It might be cheaper and less aggravating in the long run to do a quit claim deed and change the order of the names on the deeds so they all match up. Not what should have to be done, but you sometimes need to take the path of least resistance.

I know. I agree as this may be just a frustrating exercise on my part. However, deeds have both names on it so I am not sure what would be changed. When you buy a house even if you took out a mortgage and have a primary and secondary borrower name, but names are joint on the deed and that doesn't matter. I don't really see the difference here.

Marriott and Vistana take the first name on the deed and treat that owner as primary.

I see. That does seem to punish married couples in ABOUND. If both names are on the deed, then both own the deed. It isn't fair to have to pay the Club fee twice just for that. Same thing owned.

MVC/Vistana does not have my social security number, and I do not believe they use SSNs to identify owners. If you financed your developer purchase they probably took your SSN as part of a credit application but that should not be something they use to identify you as an owner.

Thanks for the info. We didn't finance it.

I thought HRA was not part of Abound yet?
If so - that may be why there are 2 fees.
One VSN and one Club.
