Back door “Max”
The representative said something similar to me--"You're MAX so the BHC dues provision does not apply to you." I told her then charge me the MAX inclusive dues so I do not have any reservation fees etc. She then put me on hold and came back with the email request. In Free Max, if I try to do a MAX reservation, there is no fee. However, if I try an HGVC Legacy reservation, I am charged a fee.
That’s how I was when I was first Maxed. I had to call in a few times to get them to charge me the difference for AI dues, then I was un-maxed for a week, but it came back.

That is really odd. You should either be Max and have no reservation fees or not. Max is just an exchange to reserve in DRI if you are in HGVC but reservations in HGVC shouldn't have reservation fees.

I had same experience. Just called again and finally they charged me the difference for AI dues and warned that it will be automatically charged in the future unless I call. I do see that max was removed though. We will see if it comes back. I'd rather have no trx fees than other max benefits anyway. Lol

Yes, whether Max or not, I should not have reservation fees. I am not entitled to MAX since I have all resales. I told the rep to leave me at Legacy and give me the option to have inclusive dues as a result of my NY/bhc ownership or leave me at MAX and provide me with free reservations etc. for my Legacy reservations. I don't care what they do, I just don't want to pay reservation fees!!

well, if you are HGVC Legacy, then you would have a reservation fee unless you are Elite Premier or in bHC AI.

I own at The Residences and W57, both resale. I believe that ownership entitles me to the option of electing AI as a Legacy Owner. The hell with MAX. Don't need (or want) it!

Yes it does but you need to call them to pay it. It is $300 and something.

Yeah I had this happen last year when I picked up a resale W57th st. Got “free Max”, but the benefits of free reservations was only limited to the Max properties, not the legacy HGVC/bHC properties. Had to call CS several times, and after a couple of weeks finally was able to pay the difference for AI and get the free reservations. They then stripped me of my “Free Max “ “ benefits”, which came back after a week. Then they came off, then came back, and have stuck for now.

And I agree, other than a free guest certificate, I am not interested in the expanded Max properties or benefits. Out of curiosity I recently checked availability of the expanded Max properties and it was very poor for the most part. Not that I want to stay at any of them anyway.

There are some that are interesting, like Cabo Azul. I have seen decent availability through DEX EU though... But, through DEX EU, you can book almost 2 years out unlike in Max, it is 6 months.

We booked a few short trips to mystic dunes for less points than a night would be at an hgvc in Orlando. So imo, max was kind of like having last calls in RCI. Best properties might not be readily available, but you can get cheap trips because they had tons of sales on the former diamond properties and no trx fees. 2 bedroom was about $44 per night based on my per point cost by averaging purchase price over 10 years plus mf for example.

I'm curious to know if someone has developer HGVC Max, do you get free reservations at HGVC, or is it only through Max into the HVC resorts?

It sounds messed up for people with "free" Max, but what about legit Max?

Geez, I'm glad I'm down to one resale HGVC contract and staying away from Max. I have better options in GPX now that I'm back in that system.

It should be for all. That is what is in the club rules... Higher dues but free reservations. It is really odd that there is a difference between free Max and legit Max though.

So you essentially have 2 buckets? Legacy HGVC/bHC benefits remained the same and Max for anything booked from the 57th West property? I want to make sure legacy HGVC stays the same if I get resale. Thx!

There are 2 buckets with HGVC “club” points and bHC points. Max as an add on doesn’t change any of the legacy benefits, unless you are legacy elite.

Thank you! We are elite, so guess I'll have to pay close attn if we buy anymore resale to make sure they don't try to give us "free max" as a way to try and take our elite status away if I buy resale.

Went to an update recently and told the sales guy Max was a downgrade for us (Thanks to all the info I have found here. Tuggers are awesome!) He was visibly upset and after 2 other closers we were able to walk away in under 2 hrs.

As i mentioned before, they removed max and made me bhc with AI. Today, max came back. Smh. Gonna try a reservation for hgvc later today to make sure AI isn't lost again. Tired of calling them.

To add to the confusion, membership card now says "Member BHC" where it used to say "HGVC Legacy".

This has been a recurring theme for folks in your situation. I know a person that is Legacy Elite Premier and keeps losing it because of a similar situation but she didn't buy anything. She is Max on the DRI side and the system keeps changing her HGVC side.... She has not been happy.

I am just reading this thread... do the AI dues get billed separately? Just noticed that my two W57 bills don't have the annual dues on them, and neither do my two Las Vegas bills. Tried to log in, but the system wasn't cooperating.

I believe the system is down from midnight until 8:30 AM today (Jan 15, 2025).
@dayooper , Thanks for that info. I logged in this morning and saw that I had the $371 Club Dues due on one of my Las Vegas contracts. Weird that I didn't notice it when I paid all of my maintenance fees before the end of 2024.
