I didn't look them closely and found out that they are expired on 2/21.
I live in Baltimore, Maryland area.
My two older kids will take SAT test in March, so we cannot pull them from school for a whole week.
I think long weekend (2/16 - 2/20) would work.
Where would you go?
Cannot find any good place to sleep 3 or 4 nights from Baltimore, reasonable distance by using flight.
Should I let them be expired?

I just switched to AA from CO due to the takeover by UA, so I am not yet up on AA policies. Are these IDB vouchers, ff miles, or what? If it is ff miles worth two tickets, there are ways to create activity to extend the account.

The real expertise on airline matters, however, can be found at www.flyertalk.com

That happened to me once Yumdrey - a similar situation - had to cancel a planned trip (with free tickets) due to a work conflict, right before expiration. We only had a short window of other available dates. I called AAVacations for suggestions - we wanted an island to escape the NE winter and they know where there are open flights, good hotel deals, etc. The agent found us a long weekend in Antigua and we paid a reduced hotel rate due to the "package" aspect (even though tickets were free from vouchers).

You're looking at President's weekend, so your choices might be limited or very expensive. It might not hurt to call them. Good luck!

No idea why you would let the tickets expire and no idea what you might be interested in seeing but American has a lot of Carribean desinations.

I would call AA Vacations and ask for suggestions in the Carribean area or Mexico for a winter break.

Cheers

If those are FF tickets you are going to find it very hard to get FF tickets for that weekend. How many miles are the tickets worth? It may be worth it to pay the fee to redeposit the miles.

Yumdrey,

I had a paid ticket that was approaching its anniversary date -- I booked the least expensive ticket I could find and they gave me a voucher for the difference that is good for one year from the voucher date.

Something to consider...

Good luck!

Greg
