I am new to this site. I received a call today from someone with "timeshare by owner" wanting to rent my points. Said would receive direct ck from renters and they got their fee elsewhere. He sent email with website (www.tsbotrader.com) and looks okay, but as I know there are lots of scams out there, I am leary.

Though we have owned timeshare for years, renting out weeks or points is something we have never done. We have lost a few weeks over years that I would have loved to have rented out.

I've read some of the posts and advice here, but do not get clear basic or maybe specific info I need. We have Wyndham VIP points. How do you rent those out? Can it actually be done? The base resort is LaCascada in San Antonio, but no specific week??

I asked the guy if I called Wyndham would they know who they were. He said they would not endorse him because they have own rental program where they keep 60% of rental fee?

Any help appreciated.

Don't know about this site.

Unless you plan to make a reservation and rent it out, VIP or non points makes no different. Whoever rent from you, if is a VIP, the points are VIP points, if (s)he is non VIP, the point are non-VIP point.

Home resort makes no difference either, rent point will be expired as the use year it was given and can only be used for 10 month or within reservation.

The biggest advantage of rent out point vs rent out reservation is that you will no longer liable for potential damage if the renter broken the unit.

It has to be regular point.

rklein001 refered site is free, and there are a lot of Wyndham owners that willing to rent point to and from you. So give it a try.

I smell a scam. Here's what I suspect will happen.

1. You agree to rent xxx number of points to renter.
2. You receive a check, deposit it, and transfer the points to the renter.
3. A few days goes by and you find out the check was bogus (like the ol' nigerian scams).
4. You are out the money and out the points.
5. You post your experience here on TUG warning the rest of us.

Steer clear of these unheard of websites/scammers.

Rent through the wyndham forum or redweek. Those are legit

Or, you can insist on being paid via Pay Pal and not worry about the Nigerians!

Thanks for all help. I am still a bit confused on the "how" part, but appreciate the advice. Will avoid anything not sure of.
