Typically, these "free" ticket offers require that you make hotel reservations through them. The hotel stay must be used in connection with your plane tickets. The hotel stay will be at exorbitant rack rates and will include a required number of nights at that rate.
Net result? You'll pay more for the hotel than you would have for both hotel and air, if you had carefully shopped on your own.
