Has anyone used Hertz vouchers for car rentals overseas?

We are contemplating getting a Hertz voucher using AmEx points to use for a car rental in France. Hertz tells me that the vouchers, which are denominated in dollars, will be converted to Euros at the prevailing rate of exchange the day we rent the car.

Has anyone ever done this? I'm wondering if they tack on any fees and what reference they use for the conversion?
