Hi there,
AirGorilla based out of San Diego, CA reached out to us with a "Business Proposition" to purchase our timeshare.

We are trying to figure out if this is legit.

Does anyone out there have knowledge of them?

Please advise.

Never heard of them. But if it involves giving them any money upfront run far, far away.

Many of these types of companies will offer to purchase your timeshare at a great price. They will tell you that you need to send them money to cover some type of fee (title transfer, taxes...). After you send it they may come up with some other type of fee or else you will never hear from them again and you will be left with your ownership and a loss of the money you sent. Be very careful with these types of companies, especially if they contacted you without you asking them to, most are scams.

Did you have them advertised? If not, SCAM! Even if you did, if they cold called you, it is also likely a SCAM!

AirGorilla is a legit company in San Diego that provides hotel and air bookings. Their website was created in 2001. However, they are not in the business of cold calling people offering to purchase timeshares. A scammer is using their name hoping their victims think they are the legit company.

Hi there,
AirGorilla based out of San Diego, CA reached out to us with a "Business Proposition" to purchase our timeshare.

A few weeks ago, I got a call from Air Gorilla, a supposedly reputable company offering to purchase my UVC membership, no money up front! I went along with it, and they sent me a proposal for twice the amount I paid. Then I received a "contract" from a legal firm in New York, Kenneth Jaffe. They made it look very official. This went on for a week or so, then they told me we had to call UVC to get them to release my membership. UVC wouldn't release it unless I paid $5000 to UVC and UVC would not under any circumstances accept the money from a third party (Air Gorilla or the law firm). The law office sent a "guarantee" document that if the sale did not go through, I would get my money back from Air Gorilla.
That is when I did my research on the law firm because the guarantee they sent had a notary stamp that was blurred and the law stationery name was spelled incorrectly. I couldn't find the law firm anywhere on any other social site. The law firm called me daily asking if I was going to send the money. I finally told them I didn't feel comfortable doing that. They kept calling and said I signed a contract and that Air Gorilla could sue me. I laughed.

Thanks for sharing and confirming this is a scam. I would assume that either the number they gave you to call UVC was a bogus number answered by the scammers themselves or someone at UVC is in on the scam.
