Has anyone flown into Lisbon to stay at Marriott’s Pine Cliffs Resort in Portugal’s Algarve Region?

American is having a fall sale. I have a couple seats on hold in November. I'd appreciate any input on Portugal.

Thanks,

Not stayed at Pine cliffs, but the area is excellent, if you get a chance to go, go for it. I was in the area in May this year and have booked Pine Cliffs for next year.
@CalGalTraveler was also recently there and you can find info in the European timeshares TUG forum.

We have flown into Lisbon to stay at a different resort in Algarve. Good toll road from Lisbon. Lots of interesting stuff to see/do in Algarve. Lots of Brits winter there. Low prices & Pubs. Good red wine. Rent no bigger car than you need. Parking is tight.

@Quilter, the Algarve's regional favorite meal is Cataplana - same name as the 'chafing dish' it's prepared in. Kind of a paella- like seafood dish. Get a reservation and allow time, it takes about 45 minutes to prepare. Well worth it!

We had a wonderful time in Algarve and northern Portugal. Highly recommend. If you don't want to drive from Lis after a long flight, airfare to Faro is only $50 - $67 pp and you can rent a car there. We did not stay at the Marriott.

PM me with questions. Had many day trips from Vilamoura.

For those who have been to Portugal / Algarve, did you trade into a a resort via II or RCI, rent villa (like Pine Cliffs), hotel, or Airbnb? This is an interesting subject.

In 2018, before I owned a time share, I stayed at Airbnb in Lisbon and Algarve and had good experiences with both.

I got an II getaway to a resort in the Algarve, that wasn't great, but I wanted 2-beds and the price was very cheap so I knew what to expect. The unit was basic, clean, would have been state of the art in the 1970's and had the space we wanted in the location we wanted, so that was good.
I wouldn't go again and getting exchanges via II in anything other than Dec or Jan is rare. II Getaways for decent properties can be quite expensive and you have to do a good amount of research to work out what they are like.
We're booked in Pine Cliffs for May (2-bed suite with kitchenet €1,800, 5 nights) and will see if anything suitable comes up instead.
